As it were, Mei Juan had enough of her sister’s self-pity rants. She told her sister since she wasn’t home, she expected her sister to be more matured yet the girl was throwing tantrums instead. She asked if Mei Yuan thought she (Mei Juan) wasn’t able to do anything about it. Before things could escalate, Tian Hao got up from his place and interfere, reminding Mei Juan that everyone had been in a bad mood for the whole day. He told Mei Juan to let Mei Yuan be. Mei Juan, of course, didn’t agree. Mei Juan said if they let Mei Yuan off so easily, who knew what other tricks Mei Yuan would pull tomorrow. While Mei Yuan used her headphones to plug her ears up, Tian Hao dragged Mei Juan toward the opposite side of the room, trying to calm her down. Tian Hao told Mei Juan the main reason he called her over, i.e. discussing Yi Ming and Yong Yi’s situation. Both ended up confiding about each other’s significant others. Mei Juan hoped that their work project in Penghu would be a success so she and Jia Qing could go to Shanghai together. Interestingly, Mei Yuan only pretended to plug her ears yet still listened to the conversation. She ended up sending a message to someone that her sister wanted to go to Shanghai.
The next morning, Mei Juan returned home all exhausted and hungry. She went to make some breakfast for herself, just a normal routine. Yet when she turned, she saw her dad standing there–for who knew since when. When she confronted him about it, he said that she should have heard his footsteps. They had a little lighthearted exchange before she told him to not give Yi Ming a hard time. He said that he knew and that he would try to talk to Yi Ming.
Later, Jia Qing woke up and found that his father-in-law and sister-in-law were sitting at a table outside for breakfast. Mei Juan soon came out with more food. Mei Juan told him to settle down and chided Mei Yuan to put her notebook away. Mei Yuan was still carrying her attitude but she didn’t say anything. Soon though, Yi Ming walked in, seeming to be still upset over the previous day’s matter. Mei Juan stopped him and told him to join them. Yet he responded that he hadn’t slept all night, stating that he had been fixing someone’s boat the whole night. Upon hearing that, his father uttered words of approval, stating that Yi Ming could follow his footsteps and take over the family business. Yi Ming didn’t care to respond but just marched inside. Li Jin Shui, not being able to take it anymore, got up and yelled after Yi Ming that he wasn’t done. Mei Juan interfered, telling her father to forget it. However, the old man said his words were useless at that point anyway. He told the others to eat first before leaving the house. Mei Juan tried calling after him yet it didn’t matter. Mei Juan, exhausted, left for her room and decided to catch up on sleep. Jia Qing followed her into their room, asking why she was tired and if she had slept the previous night. She blamed it on his snoring instead of exposing her sister for being the sole reason. Jia Qing promised to take care of the Yi Ming/Yong Yi matter before Mei Juan drifted off to sleep.
Still later, Jia Qing found Lin Xiu Chun at a golf course, talking to some possible business partners. She sent the businessmen off first, stating it was a small matter she needed to take care of. She told him that she wasn’t in the mood to discuss matters regarding Yi Ming and Yong Yi. Jia Qing tried to convince her that it wasn’t a big problem. She said that it was actually Li Jin Shui’s problem, not understanding things. Jia Qing defended his father-in-law, stating that Li Jin Shui understood. Jia Qing also stated that Li Jin Shui had his reasons for opposing the expansion of casinos, i.e. gambling had led to many family problems. Lin Xiu Chun, riled up once again, stating that since their perspectives were different, there was nothing to discuss. When Jia Qing attempted to say that he could resolve this matter with her, she attacked him by saying that he wasn’t part of the Li family, just an outsider and probably was just there to help while Li Jin Shui needed someone, considering how Li Jin Shui would hand his business over to his son for management in the end. She even stated that Jia Qing didn’t have any power to actually discuss with her, considering how he couldn’t even take care of his family situation. She delivered the final blow by stating that when he was done cleaning up his messes at home, he could then come and talk to her.
As Yong Yi was reminiscing about the past, her mother ended up taking the picture of her and Yi Ming. Tian Hao arrived in time, managing to rescue Yong Yi away from the situation. He claimed that he needed to discuss with Yong Yi about business. It was half-true, because of the project his company was taking on. However, he ended up taking Yong Yi on a road trip with Jia Qing to let her regain her confidence in Yi Ming, even showing her the boat that Jia Qing had placed hers and Yi Ming’s name on it. Not that Yong Yi had lost faith in Yi Ming, but her mother’s words and the turn of events from the previous day had left her devastated. She definitely needed some cheering up at that point. The hopeful atmosphere had taken a turn when Tian Hao learned of Jia Qing’s plan, regarding how he hoped things would be with Mei Juan returning to Penghu yet Tian Hao had also thought back to what Mei Juan had told him about wanting the both of them to go to Shanghai. Tian Hao was indeed torn with whether he should tell either party about their conflicting plans.
Li Jin Shui finally sat down to have a talk with Yi Ming. He asked Yi Ming if Yi Ming knew why he opposed Lin Xiu Chun’s plans. Yi Ming stated he understood. Li Jin Shui went on to say that it was already hard that the fishermen had to go to sea to endure hardship, among other things to return with the fishes for profit. Yet it was even hard to see them spent all the hard-earned money by gambling. Yi Ming mumbled that he understood and excused himself to go and continue with his work. Yet the old man didn’t let him off. Before he could make things worse, Yi Ming remembered what Jia Qing had told him the previous night at the dock. He told his father that when he mastered his skills and when he was prepared with stuff, but the old man stopped him. He told Yi Ming to stop ‘preparing’ since he didn’t prepare anything when he got married, he didn’t have to ‘prepare’ anything or when Jia Qing married Mei Juan, he didn’t need to ‘prepare’ anything. What the old man indirectly stated was Yi Ming didn’t need to wait any longer to marry Yong Yi. Or more directly, he stated if Yi Ming waited until he was ready, who knew where Yong Yi would be (possibly already married to someone else).
Yong Yi came back to her mother’s hotel to find out that her mother had surpassed the plans and tried to do the project herself. She’d done some research and insisted on carrying it out herself, reaping from the profit instead of collaborating with Mei Juan’s company. Yong Yi was more than upset when she found out, stating that her mother had already promised to collaborate with the Li family. Lin Xiu Chun stated that no one cared to discuss with her anyway so why bother. When Yong Yi told her mother that it wasn’t right, her mother ignored her. Yong Yi had the right to worry. This would fuse the conflict between the two families even more.
When Mei Juan finally woke up, she found Jia Qing knocked out in the living room. Jia Qing woke up afterward and stated that he’d taken care of everything already. She couldn’t believe it, considering how hard it was to convince Lin Xiu Chun while the old woman was still so upset. Jia Qing updated Mei Juan on some other stuff before taking her out to check out the boat. Soon, Jia Qing confessed to her of how he had waited for this day for so long, having her back by his side again. He went on to say that he didn’t dare call or come to Taipei to visit her, fearing that he would be bothering her or putting more pressure onto her. He said that he actually went to Taipei the previous year and actually saw her working hard. He even thought that he didn’t deserve her. He didn’t dare to ask her to come back either. Now, he was more than happy that she’d changed her mind and returned to Penghu.
Lin Xiu Chun finally sought Tian Hao out to talk about their plan. Or more like her plan. When he showed up for the meeting, he learned that she’d already found out about his fiancee and how she’d talked to You Zhen (the said fiancee who also happened to work at the same company as Tian Hao and Mei Juan). She even knew about how You Zhen’s future plan. She wanted to forgo the plan but with Tian Hao and You Zhen instead of collaborating with Mei Juan. Tian Hao, upset, wanted to leave the scene after stating that it was Mei Juan’s project. Yet Lin Xiu Chun stopped him, reminding him that You Zhen was his wife and who he valued more, his wife or Mei Juan.
On the other hand, Yi Ming also sought Yong Yi out to talk. When she arrived at the dock, he asked her for another chance. He wanted to start over with her. She wasn’t the least satisfied with his promises to make her happy and take care of her, etc. She asked if he ever wondered why others were getting married so easily while theirs was so hard to achieve. She said unless they solved the problem, it was better that they not see one another again. He quickly apologized to her, stating that he didn’t realize how deeply he had hurt her. Yet he stated that he couldn’t go on without her and he was determined to work hard from then on, not letting anyone separate them again. That was when she remembered back to what Jia Qing told her about Yi Ming when Jia Qing and Tian Hao took her to see the boat. She finally allowed herself to be embraced, but she wasn’t so touched that she didn’t think of other matters. She then asked him about her mother’s side. He reassured her that he would take care of it and that his whole family would find a solution to convince her mother.
Jia Qing and Mei Juan finally sat down with Li Jin Shui to go over the plans. Both Mei Juan and Jia Qing were convincing the old man of how popular it was and how it would help spread their cultures, etc. There were many benefits to it. Jia Qing especially stated that Mei Juan would be staying there to carry out the plan, etc. As happy as they were, they were soon interrupted by Yi Ming. Luckily, this time, Yi Ming was in a good mood. He just returned from the sea, stating how it was a success with convincing Yong Yi. He thanked Jia Qing for helping and how Jia Qing had ended up giving the boat to him and Yong Yi. Mei Juan joked that Yi Ming should thank her as well since the gift was initially for her. Jia Qing interfered and said that they were all family so it didn’t matter. While the three were happily joking, Li Jin Shui soon jumped in, sounding upset that no one informed him about the plans. All three waited for his wrath but he soon had on a smile, indicating that he was joking. The three, of course, was more than relief. Yi Ming was glad that his old man wasn’t mad. The old man stated that he was more than happy to see everyone was so united in the matter, helping one another.

The wedding finally proceeded smoothly that night. That was until the elders from both families came onto the stage to talk. At first, they were polite toward one another, even gesturing for each to go first with the speech. Li Jin Shui went first, stating how he was happy to join the two young beings in matrimony. He also went on to say that he decided to hand over his business for the newlyweds to manage (mostly from the advice of this one fortune message from the local temple). After a round of applause and some congratulations uttered at the bride and groom’s table, it was Lin Xiu Chun’s turn to talk. She started off by saying positive things, like it was in the two young beings hands now, it was their world to soar and improve the livelihoods of Penghu. Her motivational speech drew a big round of applause. That had triggered Li Jin Shui to grab the microphone and jumped in with promoting his efforts in preserving Penghu’s many beauties versus putting in casinos. Of course, Lin Xiu Chun didn’t back down, she grabbed the microphone right back and argued her case, stating how they should bring about changes and improvements, reducing poverty and hardships, and bringing Penghu to the level of worldwide acknowledgment. Offstage, it was too obvious that the people at the bride and groom’s table were in fear of where the whole debate was heading toward. The debate escalated with both sides listing all the pros and cons of their arguments. What was worse, supporters from both sides were getting quite riled up and demanded their leaders do something about it. Not wanting things to go any further, Jia Qing finally got up from his place and ended the argument by turning off the sound of both microphones through the main control panel–which earned him a thumbs up from Mei Juan. Tian Hao was also getting up from his seat to calm his auntie down. However, it was useless. Both sides were already so riled up, they didn’t want to back down. What Yi Ming and Yong Yi worried about the most finally came, because Li Jin Shui got off stage and dragged his son away, not caring for Mei Juan’s words about breaking up the engagement and ruining for both parties. Lin Xiu Chun followed suit and dragged her daughter away from the scene.
Outside, Yi Ming managed to stop his father from dragging him away. But it was mostly because the old man no longer acknowledged Yi Ming as his son. The old man gave Yi Ming the ultimatum, wanting Yi Ming to choose between the family business or Yong Yi. After Li Jin Shui left, Yi Ming saw Yong Yi being dragged by her mother out. No matter how hard Yong Yi cried and begged, her mother wouldn’t have it. Mei Juan soon joined Yi Ming and told him to go after Yong Yi. She slapped him when he was still hesitating. It wasn’t because she wanted to use force to get her way. She wanted to use that slap to get her point across, asking her brother whether the slap was more painful or the sight of seeing Yong Yi suffering. After the brief interference, Mei Juan told Yi Ming once again to go fetch Yong Yi and that she would be in the parking lot waiting for him. After a moment of reflection, he rushed to find Yong Yi. Before he could escape with Yong Yi, they were stopped by her mother. Yi Ming, though still fearing her wrath, told Lin Xiu Chun that her disagreement with his father didn’t have anything to do with them. Li Xiu Chun wasn’t intimidated, because she launched right into intimidating the opposite party. She stated that she wasn’t against him, but she didn’t see him having any capabilities if he were to strike out on his own, considering how he wasn’t able to land any job after college graduation and had to rely on his family. Yong Yi, not being able to take it anymore, told her mother that Yi Ming wasn’t like that. Yet Yi Ming interfered, saying that he understood and that he wasn’t compatible with her (i.e not being to match up to her standards). Even though Yong Yi tried to stop him from leaving, he left anyway. It was too much of a blow for him.
At the parking lot, Mei Juan and Jia Qing were still waiting for Yi Ming. Yet when Yi Ming arrived, he was devastated and confessed that he couldn’t get past Lin Xiu Chun. Mei Juan assured him that she would help him, adding that she had solved all sorts of cases in the past. However, Yi Ming ended up scolding her, saying that she wasn’t at home much so she couldn’t do anything anyway, considering how her relationship with their father was already strained. He even told her that he was her brother, not one of her cases. He was on a roll so he unleashed all his anger on to her, which some words were true since she wasn’t around much to know the intensity of the situation, but he was also taking it out on her since he wasn’t able to win the war with Lin Xiu Chun earlier. He left after stating that she didn’t care for his marriage anyway since he was just another case. Jia Qing couldn’t take it anymore, so he jumped in to defend Mei Juan, telling Yi Ming that he’d gone overboard. Yi Ming wasn’t threatened by Jia Qing so he yelled right back at Jia Qing before leaving for real this time. Mei Juan, defeated, told her husband that she was indeed a complete failure as a sister.
Back at the hotel, Lin Xiu Chun told her daughter to stop crying. She then told her daughter if a person was really determined and really loved her, he wouldn’t give up so easily. (It seemed like Lin Xiu Chun was just testing Yi Ming earlier and didn’t really mean to discourage him so much. She only wanted to see if he was really determined and was willing to fight for her daughter.) Yong Yi finally told her mother that Yi Ming wasn’t like what her mother accused him of earlier. Yong Yi said that it wasn’t that Yi Ming wasn’t able to find a job, but he hadn’t stumbled upon one that he like yet. Her mother told her that a job was a job, it wasn’t whether one liked it or not. She continued by saying that if Yi Ming really loved Yong Yi, he was willing to do anything, not just linger like that. (I have to agree with her mother here–although I hated how things turned out as well because if a person was driven, he or she would be willing to start anywhere first or try anything, not just wait for an opportunity or until the perfect job came along.) Yong Yi argued that Yi Ming had his own dreams. Her mother said that dreams couldn’t put a meal on the table, and the other harsher things about reality. When Yong Yi told her mother that she understood her mother’s perspective regarding her plans for changing Penghu, but it didn’t have anything to do with her and Yi Ming, her mother asked her if Yong Yi ever consider how unwilling her mother was in sending her off to Yi Ming. (She meant it was a mother’s heart with unwilling to part from her daughter.) Yong Yi said she understood. Lin Xiu Chun went on to say that after getting married, Yong Yi would have her own life yet had Yong Yi ever consider her mother’s life. Yong Yi finally caved and told her mother that she could go to both Li Jin Shui and his father to talk to them and make them understand her mother’s perspective. Her mother said that things couldn’t be forced anyway, but she was going to let them know that she wouldn’t be easily bullied by others. The conversation ended quite eerily because Lin Xiu Chun warned Yong Yi that if she were to leave, she couldn’t return.
While Jia Qing sought a very out of control Yi Ming to chat (or just plain drink some wine), Mei Juan came home to see her father drinking away with his own bottle. Hesitating a bit before settling down next to her old man, she poured him another glass before pouring some for herself as well. He didn’t bother clinking glasses with her but just drank it up. Not caring about that little detail, she emptied her glass as well. After some more silence between them and how additional foods were brought up to the table, Li Jin Shui asked Mei Juan where Jia Qing and Yi Ming were. She told him they were by the sea, which he thought was senseless since Penghu was surrounded by water so her answer was rendered useless. After hearing him talk about her mother’s delicacies, Mei Juan took pity on the old man and went to prepare a special dish for him. What was strange was how his vision blurred and Mei Juan had turned into the image his wife, probably was just remembering how his wife used to make the dish for him. It wasn’t until he reached for her hand that he realized what was going on, finally turning off his smile and letting go. (It was indeed sad in a way.) When Mei Juan asked him if the dish was good, he actually smiled and said that it wasn’t bad because it contained her mother’s spice. He confided with her regarding how her maternal grandparents didn’t approve of him hence not agreeing to let her mother marry him yet her mother was determined to marry him; if not, she and her brother wouldn’t exist. (It was strange seeing how they were sort of getting along now, considering how tense things were earlier.) He confessed that it was possible that he was like her maternal grandfather, not wanting to part with her hence always wanting her by his side. That got to Mei Juan since she teared up a bit. He finally admitted that he knew she’d managed to expand her horizon toward Taipei and been quite successful, not letting him down. She also confessed to him that she’d been through a lot of hardships and thought of giving up. He admitted that he kept thinking that he was giving her mother all the happiness possible yet never knew that she wasn’t. Although he vouched that he did his best. He told her that marriage was between two people and that when the other person was by your side, it was important to cherish them, not like him, only knowing to reminisce when her mother wasn’t there anymore. He said the reason why he told her all of those was because of Jia Qing. He said Jia Qing loved her and respected her hence letting her venture out in Taipei to do what she wanted yet what Jia Qing wanted the most was for her to accompany him in Penghu. Mei Juan said that she knew and that she also wanted to be by his side and build their own future. He said it was useless to say those words since she needed to use actions to prove it. She told him to not chide her anymore and asked him about Yi Ming’s situation. He said that if it was about the opening of casinos in Penghu, he would oppose to the end yet if it was regarding Yong Yi, he would welcome her into their family. She told him to leave the situation to her then, which he smiled. (It was indeed strange seeing them get along. So Yi Ming was probably wrong again, not understanding their link as much as he thought.)
Back at the seaside, Jia Qing and Yi Ming were still at it. Yi Ming was asking Jia Qing if he was really that useless. Since Yi Ming wanted Jia Qing to be honest, Jia Qing obliged. He listed all the things that Yi Ming did or didn’t do when Yi Ming returned (from college graduation). Jia Qing also said that he wondered if Yi Ming was looking down on him since Yi Ming was a grad student after all. Yet Yi Ming interfered and said that he really respected Jia Qing and said that Jia Qing should be the one taking over the boat business. Upon mentioning his father, Yi Ming riled up once again. He told Jia Qing of how his father wanted him to choose between the family business and Yong Yi. Yi Ming pointed out that those were two different matters, so how could he choose. He also told Jia Qing what Lin Xiu Chun had told him. Jia Qing told Yi Ming it was best that Yi Ming set out to prove others of his capabilities so that no one could oppose his marriage. He also told Yi Ming there were many things in life that were important and he needed to prove his independence. After all that was said and done, Yi Ming still didn’t want to go home. It wasn’t because he was still upset, but it was more like he wanted to help fix a fellow townsman’s boat before returning.
Coming home and feeling almost like a hero, Jia Qing was met with Mei Juan’s lectures. This time, it wasn’t about other people’s matters. It was regarding his habits and how he didn’t keep up with organizing his clothes and other misc items. She had to teach him once again. Yet he turned the whole thing around by complimenting her, attempting to edge out of the situation. When Mei Juan told him about her plan the next day with going to Lin Xiu Chun’s place, Jia Qing objected. He wasn’t objecting to her plan, but he didn’t want to talk about other people’s matters when they were at home. He wanted to focus on the two of them only. He got bored and walked away? (OMG, she didn’t realize it.) When she finally turned around and realized he was gone, she went to search for him. Yet he was already fast asleep in bed. He sure missed a crucial part of the conversation.
Later that night, Mei Yuan tried to sabotage Lin Xiu Chun’s place by spraying paint on the glass windows. She was caught by Tian Hao so he called Mei Juan. When Mei Juan rushed to the place, she was met with Mei Yuan’s stubbornness. Mei Yuan didn’t want to apologize and said it was Lin Xiu Chun who was bullying others so she was just helping her father and releasing some anger (i.e. sending some message to the opposing party). Mei Yuan didn’t care, because she claimed no one cared for her.

The story began with one of Taiwan’s scenic landscapes, Penghu. Li Jin Shui just managed to launch another ship so he had invited the townspeople over for a little celebration on this victory. While he was chatting up with the guests, his son, Li Yi Ming was seen passing out invitations. After the initial speech, Li Jin Shui soon joined the others offstage to chat about the upcoming happy event. However, he also complained of his oldest daughter’s lack of presence in their hometown. Fearing that the atmosphere would turn sour, Li Yi Ming rushed to reassure his father that his sister would return, considering how she had promised to help with the banquet. However, Li Jin Shui was on a roll, stating that it wasn’t that he wanted to nag his daughter but it was more about worry for his son-in-law, Fang Jia Qing.
At that moment, Li Mei Juan was seen on the road with her driver, Ah Hong. She was stuck in traffic and had to improvise by riding her horse to a meeting. At the location, two artists–Fang Hua and Su Zhi Hui–were seen arguing while they were shooting wedding photos. Not being able to win the argument, Su Zhi Hui soon turned and asked the others where Li Mei Juan was. Soon after Su Zhi Hui’s outburst, Li Mei Juan arrived on her horse, attracting the attention of the crowd present. Hearing Li Mei Juan’s explanation, the couple soon turned to one another and Su Zhi Hui apologized for his actions previously. Fang Hua also looked quite apologetic and accepted his vows to her. Their argument dissolved like that and Li Mei Juan arrived just in time to save the day (or a tragedy from happening).
Li Mei Juan indeed returned to Penghu like she promised and was greeted by her young sister, Li Mei Yuan. However, this time, Li Mei Juan returned with a heavy heart, both because she’d been informed by her husband that her father was quite upset and because of what her boss said to her regarding some business ventures. And the reason why Jia Qing couldn’t come to pick Mei Juan up was because of the disagreements between Li Jin Shui and Lin Xiu Chun. Lin Xiu Chun was actually Xu Yong Yi’s mother, which was Li Yi Ming’s future mother in law. Yes, this disagreement was indeed severe, considering how Li Jin Shui was against the land development project of recent since he vouched it was destroying the culture of Penghu while Lin Xiu Chun said that they needed to make changes for the future generations to thrive. According to Yong Yi, this meeting was to discuss their collaboration yet it had escalated to be a blood bath.
Upon arriving at the scene, Mei Juan was horrified by what was happening. Yet Mei Yuan seemed unfazed by it and even encouraged the others who traveled with them to come and help her father. What Mei Yuan didn’t realize was how Lin Xiu Chun would soon be part of their family. It was indeed getting quite ridiculous. Attempting to call for help, but it seemed hopeless, so Mei Juan had to rush forward to remind her father about the engagement between the two sides. That was when Li Jin Shui finally told the others to stop fighting. It was useless because the crowd was too chaotic. Jia Qing actually pushed Li Jun Shui aside in time before he was hit by one of the signs the protesters used to defend themselves from one another. Jia Juan rushed forward to cover for her husband yet was unfruitful. It wasn’t until the police arrived that all parties stopped what they were doing.
At the police station, like a typical person leaning toward the old, traditional route, Li Jin Shui didn’t care for the police officer’s lecture. Yet he turned to his oldest daughter, Mei Juan, to scold her extended absence at their hometown–and that she even caused him to be arrested. Mei Juan was scolding her younger sister, Mei Yuan, for how she had handled the situation earlier. Then the whole matter just escalated to the two elders not wanting to see their kids married. It was indeed a very sticky situation for Yi Ming and Yong Yi. The police officer finally interfered and told them not to argue anymore. Jia Qing, fearing things might escalate, jumped in and vouched for all parties. The officer calmed down and even reminded them that it was Yi Ming and Yong Yi’s special day and told them not to cause more troubles. He said that the next time it happens, it won’t be so lenient on them. Jia Qing was the one who tried to make peace among all parties, apologizing to Lin Xiu Chun and then insisting on everyone getting some rest before they continued with the engagement–if there was going to be one anymore. Lin Xiu Chun scolded the Li family before leaving with her daughter. Then the next problem pushed itself into existence, which was Li Jin Shui returning to his previous topic, which was scolding Mei Juan for causing troubles for him, saying that she was probably born to go against him. Even though Jia Qing tried to interfere to disperse the intensity between both parties, but Li Jin Shui didn’t hear of it. He insisted that Mei Juan learned from Jia Qing instead of roaming around alone in Taipei like that, warning her not to do anything that would wrong their family name.
Later at home, Mei Juan noticed their finances were all messed up. Jia Qing told her that her father had been lending people money left and right hence their money was drained, and that her father told them to pay back slowly, etc. Mei Juan told Jia Qing to tell her father to treat business and personal matters separate, and that he should try to stop her father. Jia Qing reminded her that her father couldn’t be reasoned with or he wouldn’t be Li Jin Shui. Jia Qing soon expressed how he wished she would return by his side too, not just her father worrying. Mei Juan finally told Jia Qing the good news of her returning to Penghu for a project. She, of course, didn’t tell Jia Qing of her boss’ decision to send her to Shanghai after the Penghu project. Yet Jia Qing was already happy about her being there. Jia Qing then told her that her father was just upset that she wasn’t there for the New Year celebration. Mei Juan told Jia Qing that her father wasn’t all that present during times either, remembering how he was missing on all those past holidays. Jia Qing jokingly commented that she and her father were indeed the same. Anyway, Jia Qing promised to help patch things between her and her father, and Mei Juan said that she would go help Yi Yong with the engagement banquet.
Upon arriving, Mei Juan had to reassure her brother and Yong Yi that her father wouldn’t sabotage the engagement. However, she soon realized she’d brought the wrong wedding dress. Yi Ming was in a panic since it would rile their father up even more. Mei Juan soon tried to improvise and said that she still had time to fix it so that their father wouldn’t know. She told Yong Yi to go fetch some supplies for her while Yi Ming went to fetch Mei Yuan to help with the fix. As Mei Juan rushed to sketch a blueprint, Yi Ming returned with Mei Yuan and Yong Yi with the needed supplies. The four of them rushed to work on the dress after Mei Juan briefed them of the plan. And while they were busy at work, Jia Qing rushed in and dragged Mei Juan away from the scene. She didn’t want to go yet he insisted. He was showing her how her father was practicing a speech for the banquet. Yet when he realized they were there, he mocked and criticized Mei Juan, not wanting her help when Jia Qing explained. Mei Juan told Jia Qing not to try anymore since it wasn’t like their relationship could be improved with just a few words from Jia Qing.
The day got even worse and worse–if that was possible because Li Jin Shui wanted to enter the room to see the new bride in the wedding dress. Stalking didn’t help so Yi Ming had to comply by opening the door. With Mei Yuan’s help in covering Yong Yi, they tried to wing it through by saying that the new bride was just shy. However, after some brief speech, he soon pushed Mei Yuan aside and discovered that the wedding dress wasn’t the one his wife used to wear. (Yes, that was why they were all covering it since he wanted his daughter-in-law to wear the one his wife wore.) Mei Juan confessed that it was her mistake. Yi Ming and Mei Yuan quickly spoke up to defend Mei Juan, saying that Mei Juan already tried her best and it was beautiful enough. Li Jin Shui, upset, scolded them once again, stating that their mother’s wish was to attend her kids’ wedding so that was the reason why he wanted the daughter-in-law to wear the dress, not just because it was beautiful. Mei Juan soon apologized for her mistake but was scolded by her father once again, repeating another phrase he previously scolded her with, which was that of saying she was a terrible daughter. Mei Juan spoke up again to clarify that she was apologizing to her mother, not to him. He wanted her to clarify her words. Mei Juan reminded him of how he kept staying at sea and leaving the house for her mother to tend, burying her mother’s talents and dreams. She even reminded him that he wasn’t around when her mother died. He asked her what the family would eat if he didn’t go out to sea and fish. She said that her mother had said that same thing yet she asked him if he’d ever considered that her mother also had her own dreams, not just existing to take care of the family. So since her mother died, Mei Juan had promised herself not to be like her mother, wanting to fulfill those dreams. He told her that she wasn’t able to take care of the wedding dress matter, how could she do anything else. He even added that she couldn’t compare to her mother. Then he said they could do whatever they want since no one cared to hear what he had to say anyway. When he left, Jia Qing tried to persuade him to stay but was unsuccessful. It wasn’t until Wen Tian Hao, Yong Yi’s cousin and also Mei Juan’s coworker, came that things were resolved. He brought the correct wedding dress to them, which earned a hug from Mei Juan. Then Mei Juan helped Yong Yi change to the correct wedding dress. While that was happening, Tian Hao congratulated Li Jin Shui. He had no idea there had been a disaster going on earlier. However, what was more troubling was the glare that Jia Qing gave him.
The drama will be airing starting this Sunday, July 19 on CTV.
