Mei Ren Long Tang: Episode 11 – Original Point

*WARNING*: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD. If you DO NOT want to be spoiled, please DO NOT read. You have been warned.

Interestingly enough, the episode started with everyone gathered around the dinner table to enjoy Long Tai’s latest delicacies, not following up with how Long Tian He had returned already.

While they were enjoying Long Tai’s dishes, they were also talking about how Xiao Xiang’s business was taking off on a good start. Lao Tu pointed out that it had to do with their distribution of flyers. Xiao Xiang didn’t forget to thank everyone for their efforts. She even sent Lao Tu some extra “gift”, which caused him to feel quite embarrassed. Not only that but Ah Pan Jie was also happy that Ah Lun and Ah Xiang were so hardworking of recent. That wasn’t the biggest moment because they soon realized (through Long Shou Cheng’s disclosure) that Long Tai had used this meal as a chance to cheer Ren Mei on. Touched, Ren Mei didn’t know what to say. Yet Long Tai dissolved the moment by telling everyone to try the foods and give him some feedback. The funniest thing was seeing how the others were placing all the drumsticks on Ren Mei’s rice bowl, causing it to be overflowed with drumsticks. Luckily, Long Tai told the others to take it off, considering how much there were. So they resumed the meal in a merriment mood.

On the day of Ren Mei’s ballet competition event, various parties were seen around the auditorium. As Long Shou Cheng glimpsed the place, he questioned Lao Tu about Long Tai/Tian He and Ah Pan Jie’s whereabouts. Lao Tu had said that Tian He would be arriving later since he had to go somewhere, while Ah Pan Jie had to tend to the soup pot before she could leave. Upon spotting Grandma Zhao, Long Shou Cheng was a bit worried but didn’t make his move. What was even more surprising was seeing Wen Zi arriving at the event, considering how she exuded enough hostility toward Ren Mei for Ren Mei to stay away from her. (Even if Ren Mei wanted to seek her out, Ren Mei was too busy of recent regarding practice to tend to the matter.)

Yet what was even more blood-boiling was how Wen Zi had arrived at backstage to tell Ren Mei that she wasn’t giving up just yet. Wen Zi went on further by saying that she was just going away for a while to let Long Tai know that he couldn’t go on without her. That wasn’t the worst bit of the encounter because when Ren Mei tried to explain to Wen Zi, Wen Zi shoved her. Even if Wen Zi didn’t know about Ren Mei’s leg injury previously, shoving Ren Mei like that was already going WAY over. And what was she trying to do? It was before Ren Mei’s performance, saying those things would cause her to lose concentration. So what will come of Ren Mei’s performance really? It wasn’t just about shining on the stage, but it was a chance for Ren Mei to prove to her grandma that she could do it.

As for Long Tai, he was seen at a jewelry shop. He was there to pick up his order. Yes, he had sent the picture he snapped of Ren Mei’s necklace in to make a duplicate. Or at least try to create the other shoe to complete the pair. That was the reason for the delay in going to the venue of Ren Mei’s performance.

And the previous scene of Tian He returning wasn’t the ending of the other episode. It was seriously deceiving us with going ahead and throwing in that particular scene. (Yet if observed more carefully by flipping back to the previous episode, the outfits didn’t match so it made sense it wasn’t linked to the previous episode’s event.) The scene actually occurred after Long Tai left the jewelry store and was on his way to the competition event. So his comment with the day being a good day was seriously ironic.

The disaster began with Ah Pan Jie on the way out of the door and was ready to go to the venue. She spotted Tian He walking in with his luggage. Confused, she asked him why he was coming back to the house for and was even carrying that luggage. He replied with a sharp tone, stating that it was his house so why couldn’t he return? She said that no one was around–to which he was more than confused as to why. She soon helped him carry the luggage inside and told him about where everyone was, cheering Ren Mei on, etc. Seriously, he looked more than confused than pissed off at this point. (Yet Mike’s acting was seriously good since he was able to create the vibe with Tian He’s cold exterior and Long Tai’s sunshine feeling. Well, he should be more than pro with the ‘mean’ persona already, considering some of his past roles, but it was a change with his sunshine personality.) So after Ah Pan Jie placed the luggage to one side, she shoved Tian He outside, lol. He was so confused, asking “What?” It was hilarious yet his nasty side would come out soon after he learned of what happened, right?

Back to the competition, it wasn’t Ren Mei’s turn yet but it was going quite smooth with some of the other performances. Backstage, Ren Mei was experiencing nerves. She took a peek outside and realized that Long Tai/Tian He wasn’t there yet. Meanwhile, Long Tai was still on his way there, hoping to make it in time for her performance. So he was in a race with Ah Pan Jie and Tian He at this point. Yet would it make sense that Long Tai would arrive first? Since he did get a head start at that one stoplight–with Tian He heading home and he went straight to the venue. Anyway, on top of the nervousness, Ren Mei realized that her grandma was even present.

Ren Mei’s performance finally came yet Long Tai was still nowhere to be seen. She tried to encourage herself on and the performance went nicely for the most part. Even her instructor was seen proud of her moves. It wasn’t until somewhere in the middle that she lost her balance. (Yes, that leg injury had caused it. AND Wen Zi’s shove had made it even worse at this point.) It was at that point that almost everyone gasped. Even Grandma Zhao was seen quite worried. Her instructor was holding his breath. At the most crucial moment, she remembered Long Tai’s cheer for her and continued right on, weaving some of the similar moves into the mistake to patch it up, making her instructor looking proud again. Even the others were seen quite impressed by her as well.

After all the performances, the result was finally announced. Grandma Zhao seemed indifference and got up to leave. Ren Mei seemed depressed–as usual. It wasn’t until her name was also announced that Long Shou Cheng and Lao Tu almost jumped. It was indeed a happy moment for them all. It took seconds later for Ren Mei to react with this news. Yet what made her day even more was how Ah Pan Jie and Tian He stepped in at that time. (Um…I still didn’t get why Long Tai didn’t come sooner. If they were stuck in traffic, then it would make sense, AND that would mean Ah Pan Jie’s route was less busy so they arrive before Long Tai.)

As Ah Pan Jie received the news from Lao Tu (it was hard not to since he was practically yelling at that point), she joined right in cheering Ren Mei on as Ren Mei stepped over to hug Tian He. That was also when he stopped being so confused and pushed Ren Mei out, even blurting out some sharp words. Both Ren Mei and Ah Pan Jie were shocked of Tian He’s reaction, so different from the Tian He they were living with these past few months. Yet Long Shou Cheng was able to detect right away that it was the real Tian He returning.

That was also when Long Tai stepped in. Long Tai, not realizing what was happening, walked toward them anyway as Lao Tu and Ah Pan Jie’s mouth hung wide open with shock. It didn’t sink in for Long Tai yet because he was still taking out the necklace and was ready to give it to Ren Mei. He finally realized something was up until he saw everyone staring. With Ren Mei’s glare, Tian He also realized something was up and turned around to see his lookalike. That was also when Long Tai’s sunshine smile turned off, and confusion was thrown around by some people in the room. Lao Tu soon realized from Tian He’s question that he was the real Tian He. Yet the others were indeed still confused. Well, except for Long Shou Cheng, who was still staying quiet, that was.

So the face-off began. At least it was Tian He who stepped over to confront his lookalike. Long Shou Cheng finally spoke up as Long Tai struggled to explain himself, stating Long Tai’s relation to Tian He. After saying that, Long Shou Cheng stepped toward them and told them to accompany him home. Long Tai’s expression showed that he was having mixed emotions toward his twin brother at that point. Yet it was too clear that Tian He was already hating this so-called ‘twin brother’. As words traveled around town, Ren Hu was more than interested in the ‘Long Tian He lookalike’ news than his sister’s good news, like it was any more surprising that he didn’t care for his sister. Of the parties still digesting the news, only Wen Zi was seen celebrating inside.

Though Xiao Xiang was absent for the performance and had to tend to her shop, after hearing Ah Xiang and Ah Lun’s words about the twin brothers, she immediately abandoned the shop and ran back to the Long resident to check. She had stated that they had helped her in the past so she couldn’t just stand around and wait for news to travel. She had to go and check for herself. She had previously stated that it made sense with the twins incident, considering how Long Tian He had always been known to be cold and all, etc.

And now that they were home, it was only right that questions were thrown around. The answer for Tian He’s first question with hiding the ‘twins’ thing from him was because Grandma Long didn’t allow for Long Shou Cheng to say it. Then Tian He said that his grandma had passed away all these years so there were numerous opportunities for his old man to say it out. (EXACTLY!) And then Long Shou Cheng said that it was because Tian He’s health condition so he didn’t want to aggravate Tian He anymore, and he wanted to find Tian He’s mother and brother before telling. Um…okay. While the old man was talking, Tian He was seen giving his brother dagger looks. It wasn’t until Tian He said that “that woman” (referring to his mother in that term instead of ‘mom’ or something similar) had fled with some man not long after giving birth to him. (No wonder Tian He’s so bitter all these years, thanks a lot, Grandma Long! She’s actually ten times worse comparing to Grandma Zhao. Grandma Zhao’s all about ‘tough love gone wrong’ but Grandma Long’s just outright slandering others’ reputation to make herself look good.) YUP, it was Grandma Long who had affected Tian He’s views on life and his evilness all these years. (Honestly, Tian He was like Ren Hu in a way, but Grandma Zhao didn’t mean it with hurting Ren Mei at times.) Tian He then accused his old man of putting the blame on the grandma just because the grandma had already passed away. (Okay, that was honestly a sticky situation BUT this time, it was indeed true that it was the dead person’s doing.) Not being able to take it anymore with Tian He’s usage of “that woman” for calling their mother, Long Tai finally jumped in to yell at Tian He. Yet Tian He wasn’t scared (far from it), he yelled right back.

Outside, Lao Tu and Ah Pan Jie were eavesdropping on the conversation while Lao Tu was trying to get Ah Pan Jie to quiet down–or they would be busted. Even Ren Mei was seen nearby, trying to check on the situation. Ah Pan Jie was scolding Lao Tu for saying that she was spouting nonsense when she talked about the twins incident previously yet it was true. All the while the two battle it out, Ren Mei was forced to remember all the times that she had encountered both–and realized she had confessed to the wrong person.

Back inside, they were still at it. Long Shou Cheng was explaining how it was because Grandma Long didn’t like his mother hence talking about her in that way. Yet Tian He stated that he believed his grandma wouldn’t hate someone without a good reason, even chanting his grandma’s mantra with how it didn’t matter with who gave birth to him, etc. OY! Very frustrating indeed but in a way, it was hard to blame him with all the years he’d been poisoned by nonsense. Long Tai jumped in again–after some quiet passed between Long Shou Cheng and Tian He–reminding Tian He how intelligent he was with his school achievements yet he didn’t know how to investigate for himself or distinguish between right and wrong yet just listened to others’ words, etc. Tian He told Long Tai that he didn’t know what had happened to him (Tian He) all these years so he (Long Tai) DID NOT have any rights to say those things. So after rattling out some more nasty words, Tian He left the scene, yelling at Lao Tu and Ah Pan Jie to get out of his way.

As he walked past them, he encountered Xiao Xiang, Ah Xiang, and Ah Lun on their way in. Another battle of words ensued as he scolded at them for calling him “Tian He Ge”, etc. Lao Tu and Ah Pan Jie soon came over to try and break the argument up. Xiao Xiang was already on a roll though and was about to say something else yet Ah Pan Jie mumbled a “Please” under her breath to get Xiao Xiang to stop. Ah Pan Jie tried to explain the new arrivals’ identities yet that didn’t calm Tian He down–far from it. He told Ah Pan Jie to tell “those people” to be more polite to him in the future. After he left, Ah Xiang claimed that he wanted to punch Tian He, considering how he couldn’t believe the bad attitude Tian He was far worse than rumors had it. When Xiao Xiang asked him why he didn’t punch Tian He and he replied with saying he didn’t dare to. (Hey, after all, Long Shou Cheng did agree to let him and Ah Lun stay to have a new start, so of course, he couldn’t just punch out Tian He like that–regardless of how hateful Tian He was.) And while that was going on, Ah Pan Jie was seen with a disappointed face, mumbling about how she thought Tian He had changed yet it wasn’t so after all. Lao Tu, though looking as disappointed, told Ah Pan Jie that it was only right to let Long Tai have his identity back or it wouldn’t be fair to him. After all that was cleared away, Xiao Xiang asked about Ren Mei, and it seemed like Ren Mei had disappeared already. Xiao Xiang soon went to Ren Mei’s room to comfort her yet Ren Mei didn’t care to speak up or open the door for Xiao Xiang.

As Tian He returned to his room, he found out that Long Tai’s possession had taken over his habitat so he once again tossed stuff around like the old days–when he wanted his way. And even yelled for Ah Pan Jie to come and clean up. The devil was indeed back in their lives.

Back in Long Shou Cheng’s study, he clarified with Long Tai regarding Grandma Long and how things had become of the ‘false’ stories of the twins’ mother. Long Shou Cheng also told Long Tai to be patient and it would take a while for Tian He to accept it. Yet Long Tai turned Long Shou Cheng down, stating that he only promised to stay until Tian He return because he knew his mom would want it. Now that Tian He was back, he should leave. Long Shou Cheng asked Long Tai if he still wanted to return to Japan. Long Tai said that since he wasn’t so welcomed here anyway, he might as well return to Japan. He went on to say that at least Japan has the memories of him and his mother all these years–and the family that he grew up with. Long Shou Cheng wanted Long Tai to think it over carefully, because he really wanted Long Tai to stay. He finally admitted that he was an irresponsible father and had been a failure in being a father all these years. Yet Long Shou Cheng went on to say if Long Tai–after thinking really carefully–still wanted to leave, he would respect Long Tai’s decision.

The others finally were able to see Long Tai at last–after having waited so long. Unlike his usually hot-headed self, Lao Tu was quite understanding of Long Tai’s hardships all these times, trying to pose as Tian He. Ah Xiang and Ah Lun were as understanding. Or perhaps, they were already through the worst with interacting with Tian He earlier so, of course, the apology from Long Tai was tenfold more sincere now that they heard it from him. Ah Lun was still stuck with the “Tian He Ge” yet he said “Tian Hao Ge” was weird so Long Tai jumped in to clarify that he didn’t like the name either. He told them to call him “Long Tai” instead–since it was the name that his mother called him. Soon, Ah Pan Jie was seen walking by, stating that she had to help Tian He clean up–and that she was so slow hence him tossing stuff all around. Yet Lao Tu stopped her, trying to make Long Tai feel better. But Long Tai soon interfered, stating it was all right. He understood how Tian He was feeling with someone else invading his personal space–and said if it was his situation, he would be as upset. Ah Pan Jie then promised to set up another room for Long Tai, and she even took time to add in how one person was yelling out orders to her versus another apologizing for making her do extra work–hence Lao Tu dragging her out of there before she could say anything else about the twins.

Long Tai finally got a chance to go to Ren Mei’s room and check on her. Xiao Xiang was still standing in front of Ren Mei’s room. Upon hearing his voice, Ren Mei got up and came over to the door, but she didn’t open it yet. She was just curious. Though Xiao Xiang had reminded Long Tai of Ren Mei ‘treating Long Tai like Tian He’ the whole time (aka the mistaken identity like everyone) and it was normal that Ren Mei was going through a ‘confused’ phase (again like everyone else), but she also cheered Long Tai on. After Xiao Xiang left, Long Tai was about to knock on Ren Mei’s door–to which she seemed to want him to–yet he hesitated and let his doubts took over. Indeed, Ren Mei wanted him to explain to her why he had deceived her. (ARrrrrrgggg, it was tenfold more frustrating that he just left like that. Yeah, I got it with the confidence thing at this point and also to let Ren Mei calm down a bit more, but seriously, how long are they going to drag this out?) And Ren Mei had every right to be mad at this point, not getting an answer at all, thinking that she had been conned.

That night, as everyone was restless all around, a surprise turn moved the plot forward slightly. Ren Mei, not being able to take it anymore, went to Long Tai’s room to confront him. She said she was able to understand and sympathize with the Long family’s situation and their past grudges toward one another. Yet what she wanted to know was why he didn’t clarify or say anything when she confessed to him in the cave when they were up in the mountains. Inside, he said because he liked her. Yet in reality, he replied it with not wanting her to be disappointed. She misunderstood the comment as wanting to play with her feelings. He finally got up from his place and said that he didn’t want to either and it was really torturing to pose as Tian He, etc. She mistook that comment even further, thinking that it had been hard for him to pose as Tian He and pretend to like her, etc. (Seriously, can’t blame her for misunderstanding because his words seemed to imply so instead of what he wanted to say. Those words were indeed too vague.) He immediately clarified it wasn’t so but she told him he longer had to suffer posing as Tian He so he was free of her, slamming the door in his face.

The next morning, round 2 commenced for the twins. Tian He had given Long Tai an intimidating look before turning to leave yet Long Tai said he wanted to talk to Tian He. He told Tian He how their lives (Long Tai and his mother’s that was) were all these years. He even mentioned how their mother often prepared 2 portions at dinner time. He didn’t understand why before but now he understood. Tian He didn’t care for the words and thought Long Tai was trying to brag about how much their mother loved Long Tai. Yet Long Tai clarified that he wasn’t. He was just saying that their mother had been thinking of Tian He all these years. Yet Tian He continued to call their mother “that woman” and also triggered Long Tai’s moods. Tian He went on to say that “that woman” was Long Tai’s mother, not his. The conversation went back to how Tian He was saying that aside from his grandma, he doesn’t believe there would be anyone who treats him well. Long Tai said that Tian He was quite pitiful, not caring if that would upset Tian He even more. Tian He reacted by saying like Long Tai had never done wrong before. That was when Lao Tu walked by and said it was good that they were both present. (Really?) According to Lao Tu, Wen Zi was there to look for Long Tai.

Outside, Ah Pan Jie was tending to Wen Zi and was asking if Wen Zi was returning to Japan hence looking for Long Tai to say goodbye. That had surprised Wen Zi, considering how she was so happy and celebrating that it was finally the day when Long Tai ‘return to her side’ as it were. So her answer to Ah Pan Jie with how she was going to return to Japan with Long Tai, which sparked a major outcry from Ah Pan Jie. In fact, that had caused Ren Mei to look worried as well, even if she was still upset over Long Tai’s vague response and had cried most of the night last night. Upon seeing Long Tai, Wen Zi–of course–walked right over and embraced him, claiming how happy it was that the day finally came. Ren Mei finally understood Wen Zi’s words about warning Ren Mei to distance herself from Long Tai, misunderstanding that those two were a couple. Long Tai finally reacted, pushing Wen Zi out slightly yet he responded that he would return to Japan with Wen Zi. That was when Lao Tu and Ah Pan Jie jumped in to interrupt, wanting to talk it over among themselves before resuming. (LOL!) That was when Ren Mei dodged out of the way.

So Lao Tu and Ah Pan Jie moved to a corner of the room to talk it over. Lao Tu was asking what to do now and Ah Pan Jie responded with “Of course we have to prevent Long Tai from leaving.” So they were saying since Long Tai came, not only was their boss’ mood turning good but also their business SO they couldn’t allow Long Tai to leave. However, they were forced to stop again, because they couldn’t find a reason to keep Long Tai there. Yet Lao Tu soon thought of something. It was indeed clever because even Ah Pan Jie looked confident enough. (What was it? Just have to watch to see.) It was indeed quite clever with how Lao Tu eased into it. LOL! And then they even steered it to the fact that Wen Zi’s passport was already lost so how could she return right away. She needed time to get a new one, lol. NICE! Then Ah Pan Jie didn’t want to let Wen Zi stay there since she stated that Wen Zi would continue to pester Long Tai to return to Japan. Yet Lao Tu jumped in to patch it up by saying that Wen Zi would be a distraction hence Long Tai not being able to concentrate properly to help them with the new dishes. Even Long Tai agreed, saying that it was a bit chaotic around there with Long Tian He returning so after he took care of stuff there, he would go to the Zhao family’s hot spring resort to look for her.

Then the head of the town came to inform them that Ren Hu was outside, wanting to seek justice. So they were forced to go out and face Ren Hu and see what else he was up to. (Didn’t Grandma Zhao say she was going to take care of it? Great, like it was news that he would go behind her back and do stuff.) Anyway, Long Tai said all it was because of him so whatever it was that Ren Hu wanted, it was between them. Before Ren Hu was able to say anything, Wen Zi jumped out, saying she won’t let him make trouble for Long Tai. Things moved toward another interesting point as Ren Hu pondered why Wen Zi was there already (since it was still so early) because that was when Tian He stepped out. He quickly delivered a taunting remark about how he was wondering who could be disrupting the peace at this time of the morning (totally aiming it at Ren Hu). As Ren Hu inspected the twins, he also took the time to ‘pretend to seek justice for his sister’. Ren Mei had indeed stepped out since she had overheard earlier about her brother coming over. Ren Mei said that they (the Long family) didn’t mean to deceive them on purpose–to which Ren Hu snapped back at her, questioning her about taking the Long family’s side. It was then that Tian He delivered another one of his attacks, saying that the Zhao family should be thankful that they (the Long family) were willing to let such useless person stay (i.e. Ren Mei). That was when Long Tai yelled at Tian He for talking about Ren Mei in that way, and Tian He said Long Tai didn’t have any right to stop him for saying it. Long Tai was about to say how much Ren Mei cares for Tian He yet Ren Mei yelled out to stop him.

It was then that Long Shou Cheng finally stepped out to admit wrong. He asked Ren Hu what Ren Hu wanted at that point. And as Ren Hu was about to deliver his orders, Grandma Zhao arrived at the scene–to much of Ren Hu’s surprise. She reminded him of what she told him last night. After chiding Ren Hu in a low whisper, she turned to Long Shou Cheng. He, of course, repeated his wrongdoings and said he didn’t know how to explain to every one of their family’s situation after realizing the person appearing during that dragon dance competition was actually Long Tai hence causing trouble for everyone. He even apologized to Ren Mei. Grandma Zhao accepted the apology and said she didn’t want to pursue the matter anymore. Ren Hu, of course, jumped in to object. Yet Grandma Zhao stated that Ren Hu indeed got beaten by one of the members of the Long family. Not to mention how good the Long family had treated Ren Mei after she arrived and had helped her change all the while staying there. Therefore, she said that they didn’t need to compensate or do anything else to make it up. After hearing those words, not only were the members of the Long family happy, but the townspeople were also cheering Grandma Zhao on for her understanding nature. Only Ren Hu was seen still very much upset upon seeing Tian He leaving the scene with a taunting smile. Grandma Zhao’s only request was to let Ren Mei go home. And Ren Mei only wanted a little time to pack. Grandma Zhao agreed and said she would send Lao Zhang (their driver) over to pick Ren Mei up.

As Ren Mei packed and was thinking of the event earlier, Long Tai entered. He looked quite heavyhearted watching her. She didn’t realize he was there until she turned around. Yet she chose to ignore him. That didn’t work because some of the items she was carrying got dropped. Those were her ballet shoes and some roll of paper. They both rushed to pick up her ballet shoes, causing their hands to come into contact. She withdrew her hand first after some silent staring between them, and he got the message, letting go so she could pick up her items and leave.

Along the hallway, Ren Mei bumped into Tian He. He, like his usual self, uttered some mean words, saying it was good that she was leaving so it was less troublesome around there. He then went on to say that he didn’t even recognize her at first and wouldn’t even dream of it, considering how he thought she would be fat all her life. He didn’t realize she could become this current person. Ren Mei didn’t just take it in this time, unlike her past self, but had responded with saying he was the same as in the past, always saying mean things to hurt others. Yet he said he didn’t want to say nice words to people he didn’t care for. (Wow, when in the world did he say nice things to people? That day seemed so foreign to everyone present.) Ren Mei then said that Tian He didn’t need to say nice things to her since that wouldn’t be the Tian He she knew since little. Then she left. He turned around to look at her. Yet what was he thinking at that point? Like he would suddenly change his thinking, but why was he staring after her for? Thinking she was still dumb as always? Or surprised that she was able to defend herself now?

Outside, Ren Mei was saying goodbye to the others and thanking them for taking care of her since the day she arrived. Ah Pan Jie looked quite depressed seeing Ren Mei leave. Even Xiao Xiang was saying how they were worried about Ren Mei going home and being bullied by her grandma and brother again. Ren Mei said that she wasn’t like before and she will try to communicate with her grandma and brother more; and that it was her actual home so she had to return. Long Shou Cheng soon stepped up to apologize to Ren Mei for deceiving her the whole time. She didn’t mind, saying that these past months have been some happy times for her. Lao Tu spoke up then, saying that even if he didn’t like her brother yet he treated her like family so he told her to return from time to time to visit them – to which she nodded. When it was Ah Pan Jie’s turn to say something, she wasn’t able to. She was too busy crying. Things didn’t improve with the crying even after Ren Mei stated that Ah Pan Jie was like her mother and hugged her. While that was going on, Ah Xiang told Ren Mei if anyone would dare to bully Ren Mei in the future, she should tell him so he could beat them up. Ah Lun and Xiao Xiang each told her to continue pursuing her dream and become an excellent dancer. It was indeed a touching goodbye scene. The party didn’t break up until Lao Zhang reminded her that Grandma Zhao was waiting for her.

As the others were saying goodbye to Ren Mei outside, Long Tai was still sitting at the exact spot that Ren Mei left him. He was thinking of how he only wanted to protect her yet had caused her to hate him in the end. Yet he soon realized what he should’ve done. So he sprang up and chased after her car. Calling out the nickname he once gave her, it seemed useless. But she had heard him and turned around at last.

As Long Tian Xing was walking home, his father appeared out of nowhere and called out to him. (Well, that dude was spying nearby but still.) What was the topic of discussion this time around? Um…Tian Xing was telling his father how the Lai family weren’t a bad bunch, and that his father needed to open his eyes a bit to see how they were. Pouring some ice-cold water onto his old man’s face all right. Of course, he was still using the whole ‘family’ card to get Tian Xing to succumb to his plans. Bi Jing Ye threatened his son with the whole “I’ll tell Lai Da Fa you’re my son if you don’t do as I said” card. Great, so much for family. Yet Tian Xing said he was still following his old man’s plans, just that he thought the old man would reconsider the whole thing.

So back to Yu Xiang and Bi Ting’s stroll toward Bi Ting’s house. Suddenly they were so formal. She thanked him for walking her home. And then he was like asking for permission to speak. Well, it was more like he said he had something to tell her. Okay, she also had something to say to him. What? Bi Ting wanted to clarify all the rumors he must have heard about her breakup with Jun Jie. She said that the reason why she couldn’t let go of everything and leave for Paris was because of her mother, not because of him–like rumors have it. She also pointed out that she found out today how similar they were, treasuring family the most. Yu Xiang agreed that he couldn’t just let go of family. She was done talking and wanted to leave. Yet he stopped her. Was this the moment? No, too much impatient on my part. (Since it made sense he stopped himself if he was about to say it before.) Well, he asked her if she was willing to come to work for his company. Yet she said she already told him in the past that she was still pursuing her wedding planner dream and how she would eventually work her way up to earn the “Paris trip” herself in the future. Though she did thank him for thinking of recruiting her to work for him, etc. So that was it. End of conversation.

So it was ‘meet the parent day’ with Mrs. Lai. Of course, she gave them her blessings. She sure was sharp though, stating that she had a friend who had a similar background as Tian Xing’s descriptions. However, she let it off. He quickly made up some story to dodge the situation altogether. (Nice one.) When Tian Xing excused himself to go to the restroom, Yu Jie steered the conversation right back to convincing Mrs. Lai to forgive Chairman Lai.

Meanwhile elsewhere, Bi Ting was out and about and bumped into Jun Jie (literally). There was some awkwardness yet he invited her to breakfast/lunch. She agreed. They were having fast food out at the park, but Bi Ting didn’t mind. She never minded about that stuff anyway. Besides, the more important thing was trying to resolve their past conflicts and ‘maintain some sort of friendship’. It was interesting how things turned out. After they cooled down and had some time off from all the pressure, they were able to talk again and even apologized to one another. And the most interesting thing was how Bi Ting suggested that Jun Jie moved into her apartment building since he was trying to cut back on spending, considering how he had just closed his company and was still searching for a job.

And as all that was going on, Yu Xiang was at home on his laptop while Tian Cheng walked in whistling like an idiot. Yes, he was feeling high. Yu Xiang was teasing him about how it was just a matter of time before Tian Cheng and Yi Ru got back together. Tian Cheng told Yu Xiang not to say those things, considering how Yi Ru just broke her engagement with Michael, and how he (Tian Cheng) wasn’t able to come out and say it after so many things had happened. Yu Xiang, being the advisor that he was, told Tian Cheng to seek out his daughter to help. Nice move, eh? Yet Tian Cheng turned the table on Yu Xiang when he pointed out that Yu Xiang couldn’t have a say in it with the whole ‘courage’ deal. Tian Cheng went on to say that he heard from Yu Jie that Yu Xiang had feelings toward Bi Ting yet wasn’t brave enough to pursue her. So Tian Cheng pointed out that Yu Xiang should take some actions to better convince him. Yu Xiang was so clever, he blurted out that their situations weren’t the same so it couldn’t be compared and rushed to the restroom instead.

Yu Jie and Tian Xing’s next stop was at Chairman Lai’s office. They were just sending along Mrs. Lai’s words regarding the meeting earlier. Chairman Lai was more than happy to oblige to Mrs. Lai’s requests. He even gave Tian Xing a check for all the wedding arrangements and such. Yet Tian Xing turned it down, saying they could manage. But Chairman Lai said it was for his daughter, not for Tian Xing, lol. So there it went with them shoving the check back and forth about twenty times before Yu Jie interfered. Soon, Tian Xing finally called Chairman Lai “Dad” and they settled down to chat some more. The topic of conversation suddenly moved to how Chairman Lai was saying Tian Xing reminded him of an old friend. Yu Jie jumped in to say that Tian Xing and Bi Jing Ye sure resembled one another. (Wow and they didn’t figure that one out until now? Great…) Tian Xing used that time to ask about that particular “Uncle Bi” who Yu Jie was talking about. So he finally got to hear Chairman Lai’s side of the story. Yet it wasn’t like Chairman Lai was bashing the other party or defending himself. He actually blamed himself for not paying attention to Bi Jing Ye thus causing even more understandings and worsening their ties. Tian Xing assured Chairman Lai that if that friend of his understood, he would soon be forgiven.

So at Sam Brunch, Tian Cheng was really enjoying it with finally being able to spend time with his ‘wife’ and kid without other interruptions. Well, not really, but it seemed like they were back to where they started. Just needed to muster up some courage and tell Yi Ru. Sam looked like he wanted to tease them yet he didn’t.

Back on the Yu Xiang and Bi Ting front, they were meeting up with Yu Jie and Tian Xing again. The wedding was going to take place three days later. Yu Xiang was beyond shocked with the time. Yet Yu Jie said their mother had wanted to travel south, etc. After the explanation and all, Yu Xiang promised that he and Bi Ting would help them out, etc. They went shopping together and tried to make ends meet. It was so funny how she made him beg this one lady. It was so funny yet cute. Then they were moving on to searching for other items. So funny how he was using chopsticks to propose to her.

Jun Jie and Shu Xin were also enjoying their time together–although they were just working on their proposals. Yet it was a change that Jun Jie was sharing his feelings to her, etc. She was indeed happy with his change in attitude and outlook as well.

Back on Yu Xiang and Bi Ting front again, they were settling old scores. At least Bi Ting was saying how he was picking at her work during their first official meeting yet now he had to stay up late to do all the work. He was actually enjoying past arguments? Yet he was right. Though they were arguing nonstop daily, it was rather simple than the situation they were in now. Then things got awkward again before they tried to go back to work on the decorations. It wasn’t until Yu Xiang finally couldn’t take it anymore and wanted to tell her AND ended up knocking the decorations over by accident. Or more like they both turned at the same time to call out each other’s names. Oy… What was there to do except retrieving those items from the floor? And he still used that time to say that she was unlucky?

Much, much later in the night, Yu Xiang walked Bi Ting home again. He repeated his appreciation for her working so hard on his sister’s wedding, etc. Of course, she said it was nothing since it was part of her job. After the usual chat, they parted ways again with her going upstairs and he waited until she was safely inside before leaving. Well, not really going yet since he stepped aside to dial her number. Then he stopped himself by beating himself up by saying he wasn’t thinking about Jun Jie’s feelings, and no wonder Jun Jie kept misunderstanding him in the past, etc. When Bi Ting finally picked up, he told her he dialed the wrong number.

Then came the day of Yu Jie and Tian Xing’s wedding. Everything seemed perfect. It took place at Sam Brunch. They had to transform the atmosphere and decorated the place to be suitable for the wedding. Guests were showing up already. Then Yu Xiang came. He spotted Bi Ting checking over the decorations to make sure it was tip-top and walked over to her to deliver some words of tease. Yet he did thank her once again for her effort. Jun Jie soon stepped in though and addressed both parties. A round of awkward staring was in place. That was until Jun Jie said that he was going to go and give Yu Jie his blessings. Yu Xiang seconded and they left together. After that, guests pilled in one by one, even some of the key characters. Jun Jie soon got his turn to talk to Yu Jie–to which he told her he wasn’t staying since he had to leave for some business matters in a bit. But he had promised to return later. She then asked him if he found a place yet and he told her he was living at their mother’s past apartment–across from Bi Ting. Yu Jie teased him for having some ‘motives’ but he shrugged it off. He also mentioned how he and Bi Ting already talked it out. Shu Xin arrived next and gave her blessings to Yu Jie as well. Then Chairman Lai came. They chatted a bit and the surprising moment arrived when Mrs. Lai came (since they weren’t sure if she would come, considering how things were between her and Chairman Lai at the moment). Mrs. Lai wanted to talk with Tian Xing in private. That set off some alarms but she was only giving him some pieces of jewelry. A pair of rings to be exact. It was from her parents and she wanted to pass it on to Yu Jie and Tian Xing. Indeed Tian Xing was feeling worse and worse after Mrs. Lai left, considering how much they trusted him, especially Yu Jie’s parents.

Then it was finally the time when Tian Xing stepped up toward the stage area and called for attention. (That was after he handed over the pair of rings to Yu Jie and said it was from her mother.) He said he had an announcement to make. He broke it to the others that he was actually Bi Jing Ye’s son. He went further to explain that he initially wanted to execute his father’s plans hence going forward with this whole thing. Yet now, he had really fallen for Yu Jie, and their family’s warmness had caused him to realize that he shouldn’t continue with his schemes anymore. He went on to clarify that he wasn’t saying all those things so that they would accept him. He only hoped that they would give him a chance and forgive him for what he’d done. He ended the speech with a sincere bow. Yu Jie had no choice but to flee the scene. It was too much to take, who could blame her?

Outside, Tian Xing had successfully caught up with her. She told him to let go. Then she asked him why he had to trick her like that. He explained it was because of his father, but now he really loved her. He even asked for a second chance. Of course, she couldn’t accept it and couldn’t take him back like that. It was too much to take. So she fled the scene again.

That night at home, the men were busy trying to comfort their princess. Yet they still dared defended Tian Xing in front of her? Well, it made sense since it was indeed one of the upsides that Tian Xing had told her before the wedding instead of after. But she was too heart-broken to care or think rationally at this point. So they were still going back and forth with the argument whether Yu Jie should accept him or not. Yang Bo Wen said that he could see that Tian Xing knew he was wrong and he ‘truly’ loved Yu Jie so he voted one for Tian Xing. Yu Xiang and Tian Cheng were still on the out with saying that Tian Xing was still wrong to trick others. Regardless of the men’s side argument though, it would be up to Yu Jie to decide since she will have to live with it. What made Yu Jie laughed, at last, was how Tian Cheng was pondering why Jun Jie wasn’t picking up. Yu Jie clarified that it was because he was busy with a case and how he was living at their mother’s previous apartment now. Yu Xiang was mumbling how so those two hadn’t reconciled and all. That was about the time Yang Bo Wen jumped over to Yu Xiang and Tian Cheng’s place to investigate a certain ‘sour’ odor. (YUP, implying that Yu Xiang was jealous.) Yu Xiang quickly said that he needed to go upstairs and rest and fled the scene. Nice getaway indeed.

Back at an undisclosed location, Tian Xing had another meeting with his father. The old man didn’t look too happy. (I wouldn’t either if someone sabotaged my evil plans like that.) Tian Xing confessed that he had already told the others that he was Bi Jing Ye’s son and that he didn’t want to continue on with this ‘trap’ anymore. Okay, Bi Jing Ye sprung his ultimate plan: severing all ties with Tian Xing. Old plan but yeah. Tian Xing was still calm, he even urged his old man to go seek out Chairman Lai for a talk to sort things out.

At Sam Brunch, Yu Xiang and Min Ling were meeting up for a talk. So Min Ling was leaving. She thanked him for looking after her all these years. Yu Xiang asked her where she was going. She told him she was going to the States to study for a while. He wished her luck and told her to take good care of herself. Min Ling then told him that he should take good care of Bi Ting since Bi Ting had let go of her Paris dream because of him so Bi Ting must really love him. He promised. (Really? When was he going to carry through?)

Still, at another location, Tian Xing sought out Mrs. Lai for a talk. He wasn’t trying to pull strings to get back into Yu Jie’s heart. He was out to do damage control and ask for forgiveness. Mrs. Lai was apparently still in shock that Tian Xing was Bi Jing Ye’s son. But she was willing to forgive him since she said he was only fulfilling his filial duties, and that it took a lot of courage for him to step out and say it. Then she asked about Bi Jing Ye, hoping that he would eventually accept it and move on.

Somewhere at a playground. Or more accurately at the playground that Tian Cheng and Yi Ru often took Xiao Die out to play, Yi Ru was walking around calling out for Xiao Die. Xiao Die soon jumped out from somewhere to surprise her mother. But that wasn’t the real surprise since she wanted to take her mother somewhere. Awww…Xiao Die teamed up with her father to give her mother a surprise. Well, Tian Cheng dressed as a clown to surprise Yi Ru and popped the question again. It didn’t matter what her answer was. They were having too much fun goofing off.

Yu Jie finally met up with her mother. It was an interesting conversation really. Because how Yu Jie was saying her father was wrong too yet he still clarified the matters with everyone. So why didn’t her mother forgive her father? Great question really. How was it different? The father sure took his precious time about it. (Okay, I’m not helping but it’s still funny to see how Mrs. Lai dodges out of this one.) Yup, Mrs. Lai was indeed sharp all right since she said the situations were different. Yu Jie was using the whole ‘forgiveness’ thing to bargain with her mother (aka if she forgave Tian Xing, then Mrs. Lai will have to forgive Chairman Lai.) It was funny how Mrs. Lai agreed, but she added a term to it. Yet she stated it was impossible since Chairman Lai would never do it.

At a construction site, Jun Jie spotted Shu Xin. Wow, she sure was taking it easy nowadays, willing to go out in the world and get ‘dirty’, not caring for the ‘perfect’ image anymore. It was indeed cute (if I really have to admit it) that they were joking around so comfortably, unlike in the past. And they were able to share so much with each other as well. Well, more him than her at the moment. But definitely progress. (I actually thought it would be madly rushed if the scriptwriters try to pull these two together at the last moment but it actually worked out quite well, considering how their time apart had made them acquire a different perspective toward many things, including toward each other.)

Back home, Yu Jie descended the stairs, calling out for the others, wondering why they hadn’t come back yet. However, when she switched on the lights, Tian Xing was standing in front of her. (How in the world did he get in? Who was the culprit who let him in?) Anyway, he was reenacting a part of some script to try and win her over again. She was willing to reconsider if he wasn’t going to pull any sort of tricks again.

Next step? Massage parlor. Tian Cheng and Yu Xiang were pretending to be the employees of this one spa to sneak in and find Mrs. Lai. After they were done confirming her location and had brought in water, they left. Chairman Lai was going to carry out the ‘terms’ that she proposed earlier with how if Chairman Lai was willing to wash her feet for her, then she would forgive him. YES, it was an ‘impossible’ one with how he had his own pride and dignity. Mrs. Lai was counting on it. Yet Chairman Lai wasn’t so into ‘saving face’ like some other people. It wasn’t until she could feel the pain (since Chairman Lai wasn’t a pro master after all) that she screamed out and pulled off her eye patch to see Chairman Lai there. She added another term, that he had to do the massage too and then she would reconsider forgiving him. Tian Cheng and Yu Xiang were outside cheering. They took it up another notch to celebrate and Tian Cheng was gloating as Yu Xiang tried to sabotage him. It wasn’t until Tian Cheng pointed out that everything worked out for everyone yet Yu Xiang and Bi Ting was still not making any progress at all that Yu Xiang realized he was in for good. Time to dodge again. Yet he didn’t this time. Not really. He was really considering Tian Cheng’s words.

So sometime later, Bi Ting came home to see Yu Xiang drawing on a wall next to her apartment building. (Wah…he’s so getting it for graffiti.) Just for kicks, what was he drawing anyway? Well, a picture of the Eiffel Tower. Then there was Bi Ting. His answer to her question about what he was doing was he wanted to compensate her ‘dream’ since she’d given it up because of him. She told him not to get too carried away with his imagination. (The not everything is about him talk, lol.) So she walked toward the door but he grabbed her hand and steered her around again. Just when he was leaning in to kiss her and she almost closed her eyes, she opened her eyes again and hit him. What? That was funny indeed since I was thinking of a ‘mushy’ moment or something. But she just thought of something. She forgot something so she had to go get it. He had to chase after her. It was almost like the scene where he was fleeing some gangsters in the past and just plain grabbed her and used her as a shield to get away from them. Yet this time, he was sincere. So he told her that he couldn’t help her fulfill her dream at that point but he promised to work hard for it–if she would give him a chance. Yet she wasn’t touched as easily. She said that she wasn’t the ‘perfect’ girl that he was seeking for. He said it was all right since he wasn’t perfect either. He continued by saying that he was ‘Ji Che Nan’ (機車男) so he was more compatible with ‘Dao Mei Nv’ (倒楣女). She finally laughed. But that was before she beat him up for keep calling her ‘unlucky girl’, lol. (Awww…finally…)

So on that same rooftop that Tian Xing often meet up with Bi Jing Ye, Bi Jing Ye was having another meeting with Gao You Da. Bi Jing Ye was begging Chairman Gao to give him another chance to bring Lai Da Fa down. Chairman Gao said it was too late since Bi Jing Ye was worthless at that point. Then he mentioned about collaborating with Chairman Lai in the future. But that wasn’t all. Chairman Lai and Mrs. Lai showed up at that time. They asked him for his forgiveness. He thought for a bit before saying that he was also wrong. (Possibly because he had nowhere to lean on now so he needed to get out of there quickly?) He said he would transfer his shares to his son, hoping the others would take good care of his son for him. Then he left. Mrs. Lai tried calling after him. Yet Chairman Lai said that it was hard to let go at their age so he told Mrs. Lai to let Bi Jing Ye be for the time being.

Three months later, it seemed like it was back at the beginning again. Well, at least it seemed that way with Yu Xiang driving to work and how he received a call from Tian Cheng with coming to the ceremony. This time, it wasn’t a separation party but a wedding. And Yu Xiang wasn’t driving his fancy sports car but a van. Tian Cheng’s message also consisted of asking Yu Xiang to call Yu Jie since she was quite forgetful. He really wanted her to be there. As for Jun Jie, he was seen in his office working away. Some things hadn’t changed. Yet he seemed more relaxed, using a basketball to entertain himself as he was trying to work out of a cram. It was also when he finally thought of the solution that Tian Cheng called in. He was reminding Jun Jie to come to his wedding. What about Bi Ting? She was home getting ready. Or so it seemed. Soon, she received a call. Yu Xiang or someone else? Yet she said she remembered. So it was probably Yu Xiang calling to remind her about the wedding? Then the scene zoomed to Shu Xin. Jun Jie called her up to remind her as well.

So back to Bi Ting, she was out waiting for a bus when Yu Xiang drove up and stopped by the sidewalk, teasing her about the time and how she was still waiting for a bus. She called him “San Shao Ye” (三少爺) and he returned it with calling her “San Shao Nai” (三少奶). How cute! YET she hit him for calling her “San Shao Nai”. So apparently they were not married yet. OY, I thought they were. But still cute. He was rushing her though, telling her they would be late if they were still there. Then she ordered him to drive as they got in the van. And as interesting as it got, they got into an accident (just like how she witnessed the accident at their first meeting and even chided him). This time, it wasn’t them though because the guy in front of them stopped so he had to brake. Luckily, they weren’t hurt. The same old trick with some old lady trying to pull the pitiful card. Bi Ting soon realized what was going on and how it was so similar to their first encounter. The new victim was as fierce as Yu Xiang was at the beginning yet there was no “Bi Ting” around to argue with that guy. The old lady finally got up and said that it was harder and harder to ‘earn a living’ and how she should find a ‘dumber’ person the next time she pulled that trick. It was also then that Yu Xiang turned to look at Bi Ting while Bi Ting had her mouth wide open. He grabbed at the chance to tease her yet she turned it around with how she was just kind-hearted yet he was the dumb one who fell for the trick. What? NICE…He was so getting it since he asked her where she learned such an ‘attitude’. It was funny how he realized it was like staring into a mirror. And he even questioned what he had done to himself, lol.

Jun Jie’s presentation this time seemed successful and he was leaving. So the scene finally zoomed to the ‘main couple’ of the moment. Xiao Die was seen in the bride’s room all smile. It was indeed better times for them at last. The same old Iron Man trick from Tian Cheng as he stepped in to greet the pair of mother and daughter. Yet they were definitely in higher spirits. It was so cute with how Xiao Die was saying her father was tall but not handsome. Kids’ innocent answers. Those were the best. He told her to stay away from her uncles since they were bad influences. He quickly repeated the mantra with him being ‘handsome and tall’. Soon, Yi Ru chided him for coming in to see the ‘bride’ before the wedding and shooed him out. Yet he said it was their second time getting married so it didn’t count. But she shooed him out anyway, saying it was bad luck. So he had no choice but to bid a temporary goodbye to Xiao Die before exiting.

The scene soon zoomed to Tian Xing. He was waiting for Yu Jie. She told him some good news. But she would have to travel overseas for some filming in the coming days. He faked the upset scene yet soon turned it off, saying that he was an actor after all. He sure got it good. Yet he stopped her attacks and told her they have to go since the ceremony was commencing soon. They were on their way, then she asked if Bi Jing Ye was coming. Tian Xing said probably not since he hadn’t gotten over the other matter yet. And that he had gone on a trip to the mainland for the time being. Tian Xing told Yu Jie it was best to give everyone more time to adjust and accept. So they were finally on their way.

At the ceremony, at last, Yu Xiang and Bi Ting finally arrived. Like usual, Bi Ting went to check on everything and even adjusted some decorations like the beginning. Just a sigh from Yu Xiang and it got Bi Ting on a roll again, lol. Then there they were again, arguing over whose taste was more suitable. OY! Then he moved on to testing her about her knowledge. He turned the whole thing toward himself when she finally answered his question, saying since she first saw him, she already fallen for him. (It was a crafty question though since she was answering and the “I Love You” fitted with the answer and how he eventually took it from there, lol.) She faked nausea. Soon, she told him to go find his brothers to talk or the more they talk, she would reconsider why she chose such a guy. He obliged but before he went, he tossed her an ‘air kiss’, telling her not to miss him too much. OY! Crazy but cute.

Even more interesting with the scene unfolding was how Bi Ting was on the phone with her mother and Jun Jie walked by. He was on his way in (like at their first meeting) and helped her retrieve her phone since she dropped it after trying to put it back into her purse. They congratulated each other on finding their own happiness already. Then the usual catch up with what was up recently.

Back inside, Yu Xiang and Jun Jie finally have their talk. What a time to have the talk, but still they needed even more time to cool off than that one time at the company. They were joking and talking like brothers again. It was indeed so funny how Yu Xiang was grabbing onto Jun Jie and saying how there were no problems between them. The way he took Jun Jie’s hand suggested a different relationship than a brotherly one. LOL! At least that got Jun Jie laughing. Jun Jie then apologized for causing so much ruptures yet Yu Xiang shrugged it off, saying that they were brothers after all. Jun Jie said that he was glad he was a part of the Lai family. Yu Xiang then faked coldness since he realized his ‘2nd bro’ was back already. (Yes, Jun Jie and his mushy talks would cause shivers all-around all right, lol.) Yu Jie soon showed up with Shu Xin (just like the beginning) and chided Jun Jie for abandoning his other half so she had to do the honor of escorting Shu Xin in. They were getting shivers again as Jun Jie and Shu Xin were playing ‘lovey-dovey’, lol. Yu Xiang wanted to go before he couldn’t take it anymore and dragged Yu Jie along. Yet Yu Jie said she was waiting for her Tian Xing to come so she could do a face-off with the other couple. Yu Xiang faked nausea and was about to flee the scene. Yet he said he wasn’t going to lose to them in the ‘lovey-dovey’ department so he turned around and yelled for Bi Ting.

Yu Xiang finally found Bi Ting by the bridge. She was sitting there enjoying the scenery. So indeed it had been a year already since their first meeting. She told Yu Xiang that her feelings during both times weren’t the same. Just some reminiscent moment. There he went teasing her again. She chided him for a lack of maturity this past year. He was still able to smile. Yet he soon launched into a somewhat of an enlightened talk about fate. That got her smiling again. Then they got up to go since it was almost time.

OMG, it was actually four weddings, not one. The other three couples were also getting married. Yet they made it like it was just Tian Cheng and Yi Ru’s wedding. (I had a feeling it might be three more weddings, not one because of some words being said in between, but I wasn’t too sure.) Their parents were late again with attending, just like last year. But they were more happy and willing this year, considering how the event was different. Indeed, Yu Jie jumped out of the line to chide her parents for being late and even-handed the whole ‘host’ job to their uncle. Mrs. Lai was sharp as always and delivered her speech ever so convincingly. Then Chairman Lai delivered a powerful speech in blessing the couples, and also to wish their new beginning a happy one. Then they danced off to the main theme song. Suitable since it was full circle already. Good ending!

Mei Ren Long Tang: Episode 10 – Pursuing Dream

*WARNING*: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD. If you DO NOT want to be spoiled, please DO NOT read. You have been warned.

Though Ren Mei had remembered that little bit of conversation between her and Wen Zi last night yet she was still too groggy and unstable to think of it. She was still quite disorientated as she walked out of her room. Long Tai was seen standing outside and she ended up bumping into him–literally. And perhaps that little bump had awakened her since she immediately asked him if he and Wen Zi came to her room last night. His answer? Of course, he denied it. Yet she insisted that she remembered it and Wen Zi was acting weird, saying that he wasn’t Long Tian He. He blamed it on her having a weird dream, lol.

But before they could go on further, Ah Pan Jie came yelling about Wen Zi. Wen Zi wanted to leave all of a sudden (according to Ah Pan Jie). Ren Mei wondered if she’d said something last night in her drunken state that had offended Wen Zi. Yet Ah Pan Jie reassured her that she didn’t say anything, and Ah Pan Jie turned to blame herself for her culinary skills that had caused Wen Zi to be unsatisfied with it.

While they were still figuring out the reason why with Wen Zi’s abrupt departure, Ren Hu was seen approaching her somewhere around town. It was definitely his chance to move in on her. He asked her why she was standing there, crying alone. However, she said that she wasn’t crying. He made some joke but wasn’t met with kind words. Instead, she said she was so unlucky, always running into him wherever she went. He went with his original answer, that they were fated. Yet he also stated that the place wasn’t big anyway so they would run into one another anyway. She quickly returned to the topic of him using those underhanded methods to get what he wanted, knowing the place wasn’t that big–and words would travel. Yet he dismissed those so-called ‘rumors’ again and asked her where she was going, considering how she didn’t have her passports. That was his mistake since Wen Zi asked him how would he know. (YUP, good one.) He was sure cunning though, not losing a beat, stating that they did bump into each other that one time in front of the police station. He then moved onto wanting her to give the Zhao family’s resort another chance, and that they won’t let her down. While she was thinking it over, Long Tai was seen riding on his motorcycle, looking for her. Though Long Tai was worried about Ren Hu’s intention at first. But after having followed her to the Zhao family’s resort and seeing she was treated nicely as one of the guests, he was reassured and realized perhaps it was better for her to wander around outside, calming herself down instead of staying at the Long resident.

Ren Hu was really working his ‘charm’ (or so he thought he had). He took Wen Zi to her new room with a nice view and told her to stay as long as she wanted. She reminded him that she didn’t have money at the time, but she would contact her father to send money over for her. He told her not to worry about it. That got her puzzled all right. She stated that they weren’t familiar with one another so she had no idea why he was treating her so nice. He rattled out some excuse about her being a foreign guest, etc. Then when he was outside alone in the hallway, he said that there was no girl in this world that he couldn’t pursue. (Oh really? Now surely they’re a good match, considering how she said Long was hers and this dude here is treating girls like some prey that was to be hunted.)

On a more positive note, Xiao Xiang was able to go ahead with the renovation of her shop. Ah Xiang and Ah Lun were helping her out so it was all right. Yet setting up the shop wasn’t the main point. The most important matter was to take care of the food. Xiao Xiang was positive she could do it, and the others were more than happy to help out.

As Ren Mei was helping with taste-testing Xiao Xiang’s foods, Xiao Xiang encouraged Ren Mei to pursue her own dreams. Which led back to ballet. The reason why Xiao Xiang insisted Ren Mei pursue that dream was because of how she kept walking in on Ren Mei practicing ballet from time to time. As Ren Mei kept blurting out the ‘impossible’ success of her ballet dream, Xiao Xiang reminded Ren Mei of her own experience; and how others might be laughing at her, thinking that it would be impossible for her to succeed in running her mother’s shop yet she was really making it happen with her current progress and she wasn’t giving up anytime soon. That sure got Ren Mei thinking seriously.

So after a visit to the ballet school that her mother took her to many times previously, it was set that she was starting over with her new determination. She promised not to give up so one of the instructors there was willing to give her a chance. At least give her a chance to prove to him that she hadn’t forgotten all about ballet dancing. Having just made some brief movements, but she was already told to stop. Feeling unnerved, she turned to the instructor to wait for her judgment. Yet he told her he was glad that she finally came back because he had been waiting for her return. (Yes, he’d seen her potential since little and wished she had pursued it yet she had to leave years ago.)

As Ren Mei’s working hard for her dream, the others were also proceeding with helping Xiao Xiang’s business. However, it was unfruitful because of how Ah Lun and Ah Xiang weren’t that good with luring in customers. As Lao Tu interfered to let some of the others past, Ah Xiang blurted out it wasn’t his fault that he looked like that (aka the fierce, gang-like look). Indeed, it wasn’t his fault. Yet Lao Tu had an idea to help matters. What?

Tada! Yes, putting them in cute bear costumes sure helped matters a tad more. Even Ah Pan Jie was laughing and saying how they were much cuter, not scaring kids away anymore. Yet they objected, one stating how hot it was in that costume and the other thought it was really embarrassing. It wasn’t until Lao Tu pulled the whole “Ah Pan Jie had worked so hard and endured so much pain to raise Ah Lun so how could he robbed her of this little happiness” that Ah Lun put his bear head back on so that his mother wouldn’t cry anymore. Even Ah Xiang was trying to get her to stop crying by obliging to put his panda head back on as well. They were indeed trying very hard to turn a new leaf. And Lao Tu’s idea was really helping business as well, considering how the number of people stopping by and taking a flyer was increasing–comparing to earlier.

While the others were busy, where was Ren Mei? Well, Long Tai was asking Xiao Xiang about it. Xiao Xiang said Ren Mei was out doing what she liked. Vague answer but somehow Long Tai found her near a shopping center. She, of course, told him what had happened and how her instructor had welcomed her return. So she invited him to accompany her on that shopping trip. (Nice? Guys and shopping. Like really? Oh well.) OY, they were fighting over which outfit was better for her. She ended getting her choice. But he silently didn’t mind, considering how his goal was to make her smile. (From his thoughts, he was ready to leave after the one-month deadline.)

The sign was getting even more obvious that Long Tai was really preparing to leave when he was riding around town, thinking about the days of being “Long Tian He”. When he came home, the same heavy mood stayed with him. What could he leave behind to show that he once existed at the place then? If he could–that was.

Then it seemed like Long Tai was too soft-hearted. He couldn’t stay mad at his old man for too long. Even if his old man had mistaken him for Lao Tu, he still stepped forward to help his old man tending to his back. Though the old man soon realized it wasn’t Lao Tu, he didn’t say anything either, allowing Long Tai to finish the task and leave. Long Shou Cheng was wondering if Long Tai had forgiven him already.

As Ren Mei continued to make tremendous progress on her ballet dancing, Long Tai proceeded with his next plan, wanting to help design a new menu for the Long’s hot spring resort. Ah Pan Jie was surprised yet Long Tai reminded her that business wasn’t so good at the place. Although Long Tai’s intention was for the good and Lao Tu finally agreed that they couldn’t be defeated like that, needing new ideas to resurrect their business, but that had also caused another disagreement. Well, it was more like Lao Tu picking on Ah Pan Jie’s culinary skills. Not allowing the argument to turn into an even bigger matter, Long Tai interfered and reassured them that they didn’t have to worry, he would take care of it. However, they needed to find out the old recipes that had attracted customers previously. That was when Ah Pan Jie ended up speaking of the forbidden words, i.e. mentioning the ‘lady boss’ (aka Long Tai’s mother). Lao Tu reminded her that Long Shou Cheng’s mother wasn’t around anymore so it was all right to say it out. Though Long Tai finally learned from where his mother acquired her culinary skills yet they couldn’t get a hold of the recipes. All three seemed defeated yet Long Shou Cheng soon showed up and told them that he had it. Great or what? Long Shou Cheng continued by saying that he would hand the book over to Long Tai, considering how Long Tai really cared for Long Tang (龍湯). (Duh, was that news? Long Tai had cared for Long Tang a lot these past months with thinking up of different plans. It was just that Long Shou Cheng kept turning him down or was against it.) Humorously, Lao Tu yelled out to the Heaven in how awesome the Heavenly god was as the others went to get ready and as Long Shou Cheng go retrieve the recipe book. Yes, he was more than happy, considering how Long Tian He (he knew) didn’t care for Long Tang before and now it was such a miracle to see Tian He so caring toward Long Tang, even trying to find ways to save it.

As Long Tai studied the recipes book and attempted one of the dishes, Lao Tu and Ah Pan Jie stood nearby, feeling proud of their young master. They were even more impressed that Tian He became so fluent in Japanese during his brief stay in Japan (in regard to his health treatment). Yet what shocked them both wasn’t Long Tai’s culinary skills or his fluent in Japanese, but it was when Ah Pan Jie offered Long Tai medicine (vitamins) and he took it–even saying thank you. (What caused their reaction was because of how Tian He really hated medicines previously, even going to the extent of shoving it out of his way and getting quite worked up.) Now? It was hard to blame Ah Pan Jie for her opening her mouth so wide in shock. Lao Tu recovered faster when they were out of sight, stating that he knew nothing would happen since Tian He had changed after having recovered already.

That led to the next point. Ah Pan Jie was really smart. She said it seemed like that person wasn’t Tian He. She once again brought up the rumor floating around with how the lady boss had given birth to a pair of twins. Lao Tu quickly jumped in to dispel the rumor. Yet Ah Pan Jie said that he heard it too, not that she was the one making it up. Lao Tu stuck with his original belief, not allowing that rumor to spread – or wanting to believe when their boss didn’t outright say it. So they agreed to drop it. Yet Ah Pan Jie said that she rather liked the current Tian He, very lovable. Lao Tu had to agree. It was hard not to.

The confrontation between Grandma Zhao and Ren Mei was inevitable. Grandma Zhao had overheard her assistant and Lao Zhang (her driver) talked about Ren Mei going back to ballet dancing once again. Grandma Zhao had to personally see it to believe. (Though she had somewhat softened upon realizing how she couldn’t beat it out of Ren Mei, her words were still harsh when she was face to face with her grand-daughter.) It was also during the interrogation that Long Tai stepped in. Yet he didn’t step forward to interfere. He listened nearby, trying to see what else would develop. Though being questioned like previously with the harsh tone, but Ren Mei was much braver than before, responding that she wasn’t afraid of others laughing at her. Her response had made Long Tai proud as well, knowing she could finally stand up for her own dream. Grandma Zhao, seeing Ren Mei so determined, told Ren Mei to prove to her that she could do it. It wasn’t until after Grandma Zhao left that Ren Mei dared to breakdown. Yet Grandma Zhao wasn’t feeling any better after saying those harsh words to her grand-daughter. She actually apologized silently, saying that she only wanted to crank Ren Mei’s determination up and to work harder toward her goal. As for Ren Mei, Long Tai finally stepped over to comfort her, telling her that one day her grandma will get it.

Instead of heading home, Long Tai took Ren Mei to somewhere else. He wanted to cheer her up by yelling out words of encouragement for her. She, indeed, was feeling much better having his support. While they continued to cheer her on, Long Tai was once again thinking to himself, pondering if she would hate him after realizing that he wasn’t Tian He yet he hoped to protect her from shedding any more tears in the future. He also hoped that in the end, if he really had to leave, she would become even more stronger when facing obstacles.

While Ren Mei was focusing on ballet dancing, Long Tai on resurrecting the Long family’s business, Wen Zi was getting impatient with her wait. She thought that Long Tai would be chasing her down already–or at least call to ask for her well-being. Yet it seemed like she was the one calling to check in on him. Ah Pan Jie actually picked it up and had let it slip after she didn’t speak up–that Long Tai was out picking Ren Mei up and had just walked in. To much of Wen Zi’s disappointment, it seemed like they were getting on just fine without her. So she went to the hot spring to cool down. Tough luck because she ended up encountering an even more awkward moment with Ren Hu. He honestly didn’t do it on purpose this time, considering how he overheard her screams and thought she was in danger. He didn’t realize it until it was too late. And he was shooed out of there after being called a pervert.

As for Ren Mei, she was given an opportunity, at last, to prove to herself–and possibly even more to her grandma of her capabilities. Yet that also led to her over-exerting herself and hurting herself in the process. Long Tai stepped in to interfere and took her home once again–after a long day of practice. (Apparently, Long Tai not only brought food for her but had attached notes of encouragement on each item–yet he refused to admit he took a lot of time in doing the task.)

Although Ren Mei had said that she could walk on her own, but Long Tai ended up carrying her on his back. A scene too familiar yet last time was when they were stuck in the woods trying to run for shelter from the rain. This time, a more comforting walk and enjoying the night air. Well, there was also some typical bickering taking place. But it wouldn’t be them if they didn’t argue over some senseless matter. (They were indeed so cute!)

That night, at home, Long Tai was sneaking around and stalking Ren Mei. What in the world was he up to? Um, he was trying to snatch the necklace from her, the one with one ballet shoe on it. He probably wanted to fulfill her wish with having two shoes on there. So what else to do but sneak in and try to get it from her so he could proceed with the next step, right? It was indeed a dangerous mission. (LOL!) Before he could sneak in and get the necklace though, he was stopped by someone.

Busted! Wahhhh, what to do now? Um, was he trying to get rid of the only witness? Not really, was just trying to get Ah Pan Jie to quiet down. Even Ah Pan Jie wanted to believe him, but it was so hard. It was super suspicious that he was sneaking around and trying to get in when Ren Mei was taking a shower in the other room. Long Tai didn’t have any more time to explain. He had to leave before Rei Mei found out. So after telling Ah Pan Jie not to tell Ren Mei about it, he left. But that wasn’t the funniest part. The funniest part was how Ren Mei asked if Ah Pan Jie was talking to someone earlier, and Ah Pan Jie responded that she didn’t see Tian He. (What?! That was practically confessing.) That got even more confusing since Ah Pan Jie kept mumbling on and on about how unbelievable it was. Then she told Ren Mei to lock the door before going to sleep that night before leaving the scene. Um…okay… (YUP, Ah Pan Jie definitely misunderstood that Long Tai was a pervert.)

It seemed like Ren Mei didn’t listen to Ah Pan Jie’s advice, because Long Tai was able to get into Ren Mei’s room without a problem later that night. He had to be so cautious that night and he came up with a better plan. There was no snatching involved this time, but he just needed to use his phone to take a picture of the shoe on the necklace. If anyone caught him, they wouldn’t believe his intention was harmless–the way he was sneaking around. And somehow, he ended up taking pictures of her sleeping. YUP, definitely not making it good for his case.

And it seemed like Ren Hu’s feelings might be reproached after all. Or was Wen Zi just admiring his musical talent and not him? Perhaps, Ren Hu’s most truthful moments were when he played his music? Because it seemed like he didn’t realize Wen Zi was there (and wasn’t trying to impress her when he started playing–like I had thought). But who knows? He was so crafty at times with his plans that it was hard to tell. Yet this night was indeed an improvement, considering their past encounters. He was willing to kneel and showed his sincerity in his apology to her. She was more than shocked and told him to get up. Afterward, he got the chance to tell her that he liked her. Some awkwardness passed, but she soon recovered and told him that she didn’t like him. He didn’t mind, because he said that one day she will.

The next day, Wen Zi was out and about again. She was pondering why Ren Hu liked her since she was so mean to him. And while she was at it, she blamed Long Tai for causing her insomnia hence taking a walk and eventually got confessed to. (Really? She was the one who heard the music and got curious hence stepping out of her room.) Then she was reassured by Ah Pan Jie that Long Tai had been busy days and nights working hard to improve the menu at the hot spring resort, not out and about with Ren Mei. She was glad that was the reason for Long Tai not calling her. Yet she was so disappointed again upon hearing Ah Pan Jie say that Long Tai and Ren Mei were getting along quite well. It was really suicidal on her part to ask about the two since Ah Pan Jie went on and on, not even realizing that Wen Zi had left already.

Further down the road, Wen Zi encountered Long Tai. She pretended not to see him and looked down so he could just pass her already. Yet he stopped in front of her and asked her why she was pretending not to see him. She responded by calling him “Long Tian He.” Their conversation was leading nowhere since she was still mad at him and kept cornering him about matters. He, like before, told her not to mess around anymore and to return to Japan. Not knowing what else to say, Long Tai told Wen Zi to take good care of herself because he couldn’t do that at the moment. He left after that and stopped at a red light when he was already out by the main roads.

He had no idea who was in the Taxi next to him as he waited for the light to turn green again. YUP, Long Tian He had returned. That was also the end of the episode. (Yes, keeping the suspense going for the time being.)

The others were as surprised when they heard the news of Mrs. Lai wanting a divorce. Though they either had chided him or was upset over the whole ‘affair’ yet they didn’t want to see the family breaking apart. So, of course, they were surprised by the move executed by Mrs. Lai. Yet Yu Jie told Chairman Lai that she would go seek out Mrs. Lai tomorrow to tell her about the good news of her (Yu Jie) getting married so she (Mrs. Lai) would change her mind. Tian Cheng even chimed in by saying that Mrs. Lai was just messing with him so he didn’t need to worry, considering how it was one of the tactics that Yi Ru had used on him in the past. (Wow, nice example, look where their marriage went, lol.) Indeed Yu Xiang had caught on and pointed out that Tian Cheng and Yi Ru ended up in divorce anyway, causing their father to cry out again. It was then Yang Bo Wen’s turn to reassure Chairman Lai. Yu Xiang finally tried to patch things by telling Chairman Lai to get it together and perform well during the important meeting so Mrs. Lai could be proud of him. It was indeed a good feeling to see that everyone was supporting him at the moment.

As Jun Jie was typing away that night, he stopped for a short break and even looked at their family picture on his phone. However, Bi Jing Ye’s call interrupted his thoughts and soon, the plan was on its way again. Was Jun Jie really going forward with it? When he looked at their family picture, it seemed like he showed some hesitation, but was that enough to stop him? Or was Bi Jing Ye’s words so dead-on that he didn’t want to let this chance pass by with overthrowing Chairman Lai? (It was hard to blame since Bi Jing Ye really done his research well to know where to hit, but still trying to see what would come out of it in the end.)

Back on the Bi Ting front, she found out that Mrs. Lai was leaving. Bi Ting asked her if she going out of the country. Mrs. Lai joked that she was leaving for Paris as not to waste the tickets. Yet she said she wasn’t going to study over there since she wasn’t too into French, etc. Bi Ting begged her not to tease anymore. Mrs. Lai’s smile proved that she was really joking and not trying to get back at Bi Ting for dumping her son. It was interesting how Bi Ting told Mrs. Lai that she and her third son were so alike with their jokes, always nabbing at others. Mrs. Lai was surprised that Bi Ting knew Yu Xiang. Yet Bi Ting told her that Yu Xiang was her supervisor at the old workplace. It was funny how Mrs. Lai was looking at Bi Ting with curious eyes–like she knew when Bi Ting mentioned Yu Xiang that there was something up. It was cute how Mrs. Lai was still able to joke about it since I thought she would go all ballistic on Bi Ting, considering it was normal that the mother would be protective of her sons when it came to outsiders, etc. I have to admit that Mrs. Lai and Yu Xiang were so similar all right. The way they strike at others and how their teasing tactic was. And Bi Ting had no choice but to admit that the other person they’d been discussing the whole time was Yu Xiang. Mrs. Lai was so sharp anyway, it was hard to deny. Mrs. Lai quickly reminded Bi Ting of what she told Bi Ting earlier about letting Bi Ting choose between her handsome, good looking sons yet she didn’t realize it had already come true.

It seemed that Chairman Lai was camping over at Yang Bo Wen’s house that night. Yu Xiang came downstairs and saw him still sitting around, not sleeping. He told Yu Xiang that he was going to let go and sign the divorce papers. Yu Xiang was surprised that he was giving up. Yet he said that it was best he let Mrs. Lai go, allowing her to be happy rather than seeing him and hating him all the time. After some more rants, Chairman Lai decided to go for a walk and told Yu Xiang to go to sleep. Yu Xiang was still worried yet let his old man be.

It was finally the day when Mrs. Lai moved out of the apartment building. Yet she didn’t forget to come over and say goodbye to Bi Ting. She told Bi Ting that it wasn’t their last meeting since Bi Ting would still be around whether Bi Ting would end up choosing Jun Jie or Yu Xiang. But she decided to let Bi Ting off this time, telling Bi Ting that it didn’t matter who Bi Ting choose, Bi Ting must take good care of that person for her. (Nice?) Indeed, Bi Ting nodded, agreeing to her terms. (How cute!)

Interestingly enough, the day of Mrs. Lai’s move was also the day of the important meeting. Yu Xiang and Jun Jie bumped into each other at the lobby, having a showdown. They finally proceeded to the conference room after some initial taunting. It was the time when Chairman Lai would open his eyes because he was quite shocked upon hearing of Bi Jing Ye’s suggestion in choosing a new chairman. Yu Xiang already warned him the dude was up to something, if only he had listened. Bi Jing Ye continued to list all the reasons why Chairman Lai should step down. Chairman Lai still let him finish, telling Yu Xiang not to interrupt. One by one, the others agreed with Bi Jing Ye. Yet Chairman Lai seemed to have known something? Or had he pretended to be dumb all these times? Yup, Yu Xiang was as surprised that his old man had said that Bi Jing Ye was too abrupt with his moves. It showed the old man had known. It would be too much of a joke that he’d been in the field all these years yet didn’t seem knowledgeable or too naive with his moves. Even if he was exposed, Bi Jing Ye still didn’t want to back down. He had worked too hard for it, how could he, right? Man, seriously, Bi Jing Ye was cunning all right. He was indeed a pro. Because he didn’t want to step up himself, but he had pushed Jun Jie forward by putting out his name. It was a great move, because that would cause an even bigger rip between their family. It sure had some effect all right. Even if Jun Jie was equally surprised, it was too late. Yet the more surprising thing was Chairman Lai didn’t disagree with the suggestion. The voting quickly ensued with 3 vs. 2, Chairman Lai being out. Yu Xiang voted for Chairman Lai and Chairman Lai voted for himself. Bi Jing Ye and the others voted for Jun Jie. Jun Jie still had two votes, one from himself and one from his mother. It was all up to him now. What was he going to choose? To proceed with the plan? Another interesting thing unfolded at that moment, because Mrs. Lai walked in to cast her own vote instead of letting Jun Jie do it like previously. Perhaps it was more than a relief for Jun Jie since he wouldn’t have to face the betrayal later? Or perhaps it wouldn’t be as bad? But what had happened that had changed Mrs. Lai’s mind to come to the meeting after all? She chose Chairman Lai. It was 3 vs. 3 now. What next? The vote was down to Jun Jie now. In the end, Jun Jie had chosen his father. Nice turn of events actually because Bi Jing Ye was so counting on his plan to work. Indeed, Jun Jie was looking at his family picture the previous night and was having mixed feelings. He was also torn at the moment to even waited for so long until Mrs. Lai came in. So it made sense he wouldn’t want to ruin all of that. Even if he had chosen not to cause more rip on a personal level, he still chose to leave the company to pursue his own path.

Yu Xiang chased after Jun Jie after realizing what had happened. He managed to catch up to Jun Jie outside, thanking Jun Jie for what he’d done in the conference room. Jun Jie said that he was just doing what he had to, what was there to thank about? Yu Xiang didn’t want to lose the opportunity to explain to Jun Jie, so he went ahead to say that he didn’t try to affect Bi Ting’s decision previously. Yet Jun Jie brushed him off, stating that he had already let go. Moreover, Jun Jie had also gotten over the fact that Yu Xiang had won over him, knowing that Yu Xiang didn’t do it on purpose either. Jun Jie also confessed that he was just a bit saddened by the turn of events, that was it. Yu Xiang was reassured that things were cleared between them. Yu Xiang then asked Jun Jie why he had to quit. Jun Jie replied with how he was in the wrong with not letting their father know of Bi Jing Ye’s intention hence it was the only thing he could do to make up for it.

Back inside the conference room, there were only three people left. Chairman Lai, Mrs. Lai, and Bi Jing Ye. The inevitable confrontation ensued. Bi Jing Ye’s answer to Chairman Lai’s question as to why he had to do it? Um…because of love. He finally let it known that he was hating on Chairman Lai because Mrs. Lai had chosen Chairman Lai ages ago. After all that was said, Mrs. Lai said that she wouldn’t choose Bi Jing Ye regardless of whether Chairman Lai had hurt her or not. It was around then that Chairman Lai got his ‘power’ back and asked if Bi Jing Ye was resigning. Before leaving, Bi Jing Ye vouched that he wasn’t going to be struck down because of this one fall. (Nice?) Yet it was so cute that Mrs. Lai was pulling out her usual tricks again after Bi Jing Ye left. Chairman Lai rushed to thank her, thinking he’d been forgiven yet she clarified that she was doing this for the company, not because of him. So her decision with the divorce was still intact. (Great?) I totally agree with Bi Ting that Yu Xiang took after her. They were so alike with their tactics. Not to mention sharp reaction to matters.

At Sam Brunch, Yu Xiang recounted the events in the conference room earlier to Yu Jie, Tian Cheng, and Yang Bo Wen. His storytelling method was indeed appealing to the audience since they listened attentively. But that didn’t mean they had a lot to contribute after Yu Xiang was done. That didn’t stop Yu Xiang from celebrating though. Their victory was indeed something. Yu Jie soon pulled Yu Xiang aside (literally) to discuss some matters. She wanted Yu Xiang to ask Bi Ting for help with some of the wedding arrangements. (Or was that her attempt to match-make? I meant like since after Jun Jie was already over Bi Ting and how she was more than willing to pull some strings to get Jun Jie and Shu Xin together as well.) Yu Xiang agreed after much consideration, which earned some gratitude gestures from Yu Jie. And on a sadder note, Yi Ru was seen crying at another corner of Sam Brunch. One of her friends finally found where Michael went and even notified those debt collectors. Though Yi Ru was really lucky that she still wasn’t married to Michael yet, she was still saddened by the situation. Yet Tian Cheng cheered her up and told her she still had him…and the rest of the crew at Sam Brunch, and that they would work hard to take care of her, etc.

Back to the drawing board as Bi Jing Ye and Long Tian Xing had another meeting via rooftop. Bi Jing Ye told his son of the bad news but said that now his only hope left was on his son’s shoulders. It was indeed his only chance left to hurt the Lai family. But Long Tian Xing was already torn enough between various parties, how could he carry through? Or would his father work the usual tricks again to convince his son of how devilish Chairman Lai was so the plan would go forth?

Yu Jie finally broke it to her mother that she was getting married soon. Yet Mrs. Lai said that she already knew since Yu Xiang had already told her. Yu Jie quickly scolded Yu Xiang for being a big mouth, but they soon returned to the happy subject of the upcoming wedding. And Yu Jie’s plan didn’t work like how she had expected it for her mother to agree with her to forgive her father. Soon though, she cheered Yu Jie up by saying that they should go eat–and it was her treat.

And it was finally the day when Yu Xiang sought Bi Ting out to ask her for help with overseeing his sister’s wedding. Bi Ting turned him down, stating that she didn’t want to run into Jun Jie at the wedding. Not to mention how she probably couldn’t pull through, telling him to seek out other co-workers from Happiness Began. Yet he begged her to help. Bi Ting was surprised that Yu Xiang was willing to ‘beg’ someone. Yu Xiang said that it was his sister after all so he was willing to do it. She finally agreed to help him after realizing how much he cherished his family and placed them before himself. He was happier.

That night, Yu Xiang and Bi Ting met Yu Jie and Tian Xing at a lounge bar like Yu Xiang had said previously. It was also then that introductions were made and Yu Jie was able to see the ‘Zhang Bi Ting’ that had ruptured their family life at one time or another. This time though, she was more concerned about her wedding arrangements than settling old scores. Yu Xiang soon launched into asking when the wedding was taking place and he teased them if they were trying to meet the deadline Chairman Lai had set for them previously. Yet Yu Jie quickly defended herself that it wasn’t so. Yu Xiang was, of course, kidding. Yu Jie soon brought the attention on Bi Ting with saying that her initial feelings toward Bi Ting weren’t too good (mostly due to her brothers’ brawls) but she really liked Bi Ting’s style hence seeking her out for help with the wedding arrangements. Bi Ting had promised to make the best of it. Then there were awkward stares between Yu Xiang and Bi Ting.

Another happy event was taking place as Tian Cheng and Yang Zi were helping Yang Bo Wen propose to Sammy at Sam Brunch. This one, was more successful than the previous, considering how it was more carefully planned and executed. The funniest thing was Sam had exuded some attitude beforehand at the counter as Sammy was walking in to ask for Tian Cheng. So, of course, she had no idea such a touching proposal was in place.

Back at the company, Chairman Lai was holding a meeting to make some announcements. One of them being that Bi Jing Ye had resigned due to some reasons. Another was regarding his three sons. One of the employees wanted Yu Xiang to return to oversee a certain department. Yu Xiang thanked him for his support yet said he had already decided to break out on his own. Moving on, Chairman Lai also made an announcement that his daughter was getting married–and that his ‘Seeking For Love 365’ plan wasn’t in vain.

On the Jun Jie front, it seemed like Jun Jie and Shu Xin were getting along quite well this time around, unlike their forced interactions in the past. Perhaps the whole thing with Shu Xin letting go and leaving for a while had given them both time to cool down. They had indeed stepped back and looked at the situation from a different perspective. (And Jun Jie’s recent break up had indeed aided the situation majorly.)

The day that Jun Jie was moving, at least it was his company, he seemed down. (Obviously.) Yet he didn’t realize Tian Cheng, Yu Jie, and Yang Bo Wen came to help him, telling him that they would always be there for him since he would always be part of the family. Things were definitely getting back to normal with them. It reminded me of the earlier episodes where they were gathering at Sam Brunch to eat breakfast and talk nonsense. Yet this time around, they had been through so much and was even more understanding toward one another, ready to reunite once again as a family. Yu Jie even told Jun Jie he had to attend her wedding. After they were done moving stuff for Jun Jie, they each bid him the usual temporary goodbye, but told him to come back that night for a celebration–since they were welcoming Tian Xing. Yet Jun Jie turned them down, claiming he couldn’t face their father anymore. Yang Bo Wen soon interfered and invited him to move back since he needed to introduce his daughter to Jun Jie. Jun Jie was more than surprised that Yang Bo Wen had a daughter. They indeed needed to do some major catch up. Before leaving though, Yu Jie told Jun Jie it was Shu Xin who told her to come and help Jun Jie move since Shu Xin wanted them to have a chance to interact and patch things up once again.

Then there was the day when Bi Ting was seen back at her tree. Would she bump into Yu Xiang again? She was talking to her tree and asking for advice again. She confessed that she didn’t want to see Yu Xiang anymore yet she needed the money to forgo her dream of going to Paris. It was funny that Shu Xin spotted her and even smiled at how she was talking to a tree. And funnier that Shu Xin was now taking over as the advice-giver. Since Shu Xin soon approached Bi Ting to have a talk with her. So at somewhere in town, Shu Xin and Bi Ting sat down to do the usual catch up at last. Perhaps it made sense and not so random like I initially thought when I saw the previews that Shu Xin should be the one having the talk with Bi Ting to convince her of the situation. Well, Bi Ting was already cleared of the situation, but she was at a stalemate, not daring to move forward because she feared she would hurt even more people. But Shu Xin would be a suitable candidate to clear things even more for her, because Shu Xin was front and center during the past encounters to understand Bi Ting’s actually feelings at that time, even if she was in the process of sabotaging Bi Ting and Jun Jie. Now? Bi Ting had changed. Or at least her feelings had changed. It also made sense that these two women should finally have some kind of talk to wrap up their past chapter. Because Shu Xin left suddenly like that and didn’t say much, even if she knew she had failed to win Jun Jie’s heart at that time. These two really needed some closure and resolve some past conflicts also. It was strange to see how Bi Ting was encouraging Shu Xin on to be her courageous self and pursue her happiness, but Shu Xin was saying how she had already changed her perspective, knowing that Jun Jie didn’t love her, etc. After some more side talks, Bi Ting left to meet with Yu Jie while Shu Xin said she had other matters to tend to.

Then there was also the time when Chairman Lai finally met up with Gao You Da to discuss some matters. Chairman Lai was willing to do business with the latter if the terms were appropriate. What would Chairman Gao’s decision be? Sink with Bi Jing Ye or try to work out another alternative route for himself?

Wedding pictures and all those fun stuff aside, Bi Ting and Yu Jie finally have the talk with how Yu Jie was still not having good impressions toward Bi Ting because of what happened. Yet Bi Ting clarified that regardless of what happened in the past, she didn’t do it on purpose. And it didn’t matter if Yu Jie like her or not, but she had already done her best with preparing the wedding plans for Yu Jie. Because just like how Bi Ting had said that she really loved that job. Yu Jie actually liked it that Bi Ting was that blunt hence inviting her to Sam Brunch that night for their gathering.

Yi Ru finally found Michael and even bought him some food. Tian Cheng was suspicious of her sudden departure so he followed her hence finding out of their meeting. That Michael dude was indeed despicable, even daring to say that he loved Yi Ru the most, and how she still cared for him hence doing all these for him now. He tried to convince her to help him start over again, but he received a slap instead. That also riled him up, so he proceeded to Plan B, wanting to use Yi Ru as the bargaining chip to extort some money from her father. It was then that Tian Cheng jumped out to kick Michael’s knife away and managed to savor the whole situation. It seemed like ‘the hero saving the beauty’ scene wasn’t so old after all if done right.

Yu Xiang’s new plan–or more like his old plan but new partners–was really coming along with their meeting. Yu Xiang indeed was showing more and more signs of maturity as his partners complimented him for his sincerity, but they weren’t too used to it yet. After they left, Min Ling said that their company was a tad too small and that he should seek Bi Ting out. Yu Xiang said that he also had to think for Jun Jie so it was best that they revisited the plan in the next life. (LOL) Min Ling said Yu Xiang and Bi Ting were so similar, saying those similar words. She pointed out that they both were very kind-hearted people yet were carrying too heavy a burden. She said that they should cherish the people in front of them. Yu Xiang agreed that he should cherish the person in front of him, but he said Jun Jie was hurt so deeply and he had to take partial responsibility for it. Min Ling trapped him at last by saying that he finally admitted to liking Bi Ting. He tried to dodge yet Min Ling forced him to admit it at last. Yes, he nodded. (That was so cute.)

Back at Sam Brunch, Tian Cheng guided Yi Ru toward a seat and even went to get some water for her. She then apologized to him for not believing him previously when he said Michael was a bad guy. He didn’t mind at all. Everything was already sorted out, right? It didn’t matter anymore.

Jun Jie and Shu Xin were having dinner together like once upon a time. Yet this time it wasn’t forced or anything. Perhaps (like I mentioned before), their time apart had allowed them to appreciate these moments more. Being too persistent or too into it might have the opposite effect and giving each other pressures. Yet now, it seemed like they were more fitting than ever. Indeed, Jun Jie admitted that Shu Xin had changed a lot these past few months. It was probably more comfortable to talk to her, without the whole ‘perfect’ personality that he had to face previously.

Yu Xiang came to Sam Brunch to find no one around. It was indeed strange. Yet he soon found Tian Cheng and Yi Ru chatting in one of the rooms. Yang Bo Wen walked in with Sammy and Yang Zi around then as well. They were introduced. Next to arrive were Yu Jie and Tian Xing. Yu Jie said that she also invited Bi Ting over, hoping that the others didn’t mind. She soon called out to Bi Ting–to which Bi Ting entered and Yu Xiang was in full nervousness around then. Though he wouldn’t outright admit it to them–or anyone for that matter. Tian Cheng, of course, said he didn’t mind since they were one big family after all. Even if they weren’t family, they were friends, etc. Tian Xing soon confessed that it was his first time attending such a large family gathering event. Bi Ting also felt the warmness of their group. Soon, Tian Cheng clinked his glass to call for attention, announcing his welcoming message to their new friends. Bi Ting was more than touched of the gesture. She was more than touched that she was finally allowed into their circle. They even welcomed Chairman Lai! (It was so cute.) The next item on the ‘To-Do’ list? Of course, like Tian Cheng said, Chairman Lai had to pursue their mother back again so they could be a complete family. The pressure was definitely on their old man. (Jia you!) It was indeed “Hong Men Yan (鴻門宴)” for him, lol. Yet he wasn’t afraid of it anymore. He swore in front of them to carry through.

Out somewhere, Jun Jie and Shu Xin were taking a stroll after dinner. That was until fate intervened. Yup, somehow, she carelessly tripped and he came to the rescue. The typical formula to bring them together. But it was all right, I guess. Yet Shu Xin broke off the stare and made her move. In a way, it was up to Jun Jie to pursue her now, not making her do all the work like previously.

Back at Sam Brunch, they were leaving in Taxis, taking cautions since everyone had drunk some. It was indeed a joyous night after so much had happened so it was excusable that they were a tad off. Chairman Lai was especially unusually happy, blurting out random stuff. Yet Yu Jie insisted on sending him home. She reminded Tian Xing of the meeting with her mother the next day before saying goodbye to her brother and Bi Ting. After saying goodbye to Tian Xing as well, it was just Yu Xiang and Bi Ting again. (Aww…their awkward smiles. Cute…) He offered to walk her home–to which she agreed since it was good to take a walk after they just ate. She walked off first as he smiled and followed.

Mei Ren Long Tang: Episode 9 – Confession

*WARNING*: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD. If you DO NOT want to be spoiled, please DO NOT read. You have been warned.

As it were, Long Tai rushed out of the hot spring resort in search of Ren Mei, fearing that she might be on her way to do something silly. On his way out of Ren Mei’s room, he was stopped by Ah Pan Jie asking about Ren Mei’s current condition. However, he just blurted out some vague answers, claiming he had to go find Ren Mei. Ah Pan Jie was forced to figure it out on her own. It wasn’t until she read the letter that Long Tai shoved into her hands that she realized the seriousness of the situation. It was also around then that she yelled out for her boss, informing him about a major crisis.

Though Long Tai declared that he was out to search for Ren Mei yet the whole household was not far behind on the task. And I don’t mind this time that they backtracked a bit to recount of Ren Mei’s letter and let her voice be the narration while the others were searching for her. It indeed added to the hectic atmosphere as anxiety build for everyone, pondering where Ren Mei could be heading toward. The ones not searching for Ren Mei were Long Shou Cheng and Xiao Xiang. Xiao Xiang was trying to call Ren Mei on her cell phone while Long Shou Cheng was on standby to wait for words from the others. After half a night of unfruitful searching, the others were getting even warier. Long Tai wasn’t about to give up though. It wasn’t until daybreak that he returned home as the others were seen resting and waiting for news. He probably thought that the others must at least have some news so he rushed home to check. Yet upon learning that the others didn’t have any luck either, he vouched to go search again.

Wen Zi stopped him as he was getting ready. She told him to go rest, considering how he hadn’t slept all night. (She hadn’t slept all night either–according to Lao Tu’s words earlier.) Long Tai’s response was that he wasn’t tired. (What else? He was worried nuts so he didn’t care.) Wen Zi reminded Long Tai that Ren Mei wasn’t a kid so she would be all right. Yet Long Tai asked Wen Zi how would she know that Ren Mei would be all right. So what else did Wen Zi do but ask back how would he know she would encounter some trouble, etc. OY, yup, jealous episodes unleashing. She was too smart not to recognize how much Long Tai cares for Ren Mei. YUP, Wen Zi confronted him with the whole Ren Mei “isn’t just a friend” to him, etc. Long Tai didn’t want to answer her yet she blocked his path and forced him to respond. (Nice?) Yet I guess everyone will have to thank Wen Zi because she had forced Long Tai to face his own feelings. He had told Wen Zi to get out of the way since he already lost his mother, he didn’t want to lose Ren Mei as well. Wen Zi kept asking, and Long Tai begged her to step aside so he could go search for Ren Mei. Though he hadn’t really answered, it was too clear already. Seeing Long Tai’s determination, Wen Zi had no choice but to do as she was told, letting him leave at last.

Inside, the others were breaking down one by one. Lao Tu was his usual hot-headed self, bursting out words of frustration while Ah Pan Jie cried over Ren Mei’s possible doom. The others tried to calm Ah Pan Jie down but it seemed unsuccessful. It wasn’t until Long Shou Cheng spoke up, saying that he would go over to the Zhao resident to see if Ren Mei had gone home. Ah Pan Jie voiced out her injustice of how Ren Mei was being treated at the Zhao family that she might as well not go home. Yet Long Shou Cheng reassured her that he would calmly talk to them, etc.

Long Shou Cheng’s trip to the Zhao family seemed smooth at first. At least he hadn’t gotten kicked out, etc. Grandma Zhao was shocked that Ren Mei had gone missing. However, when Long Shou Cheng tried to explain the situation, Ren Hu jumped in to stop him, putting all the blame on his sister for being dramatic, etc. (Seriously, I just want to slap Ren Hu at this point.) Even Long Shou Cheng seemed more caring toward Ren Mei. In fact, the whole Long family cared more for Ren Mei than all of the Zhao family combined. (It didn’t matter if the grandma was doing the ‘tough love’ bit, it hadn’t worked yet had caused Ren Mei’s confidence to sink lower and lower over the years.) And just when Grandma Zhao wanted Long Shou Cheng to finish what he was saying before Ren Hu interrupted (about twice already), Long Shou Cheng was faced with the fact that Grandma Zhao might not be able to take it. (Ren Hu just had to remind Long Shou Cheng of his grandma’s high blood pressure situation, etc.) So what now? (Honestly, just plain say it already!) He just had to go with it didn’t matter what the reason was, he would find Ren Mei, even saying that he had told Lao Tu to inform the cops of the situation. (Seriously? He was going to take the fall for it? Now Grandma Zhao had more reasons to scold him.)

Okay, so Ren Hu was successful in shutting Long Shou Cheng up–one way or another. Yet it wasn’t so with the assistant. She was mumbling about how it was strange that people from the Long family came over last night and now they were coming over again. That was what got Grandma Zhao’s attention and she inquired further into the matter. It seemed slim that anyone was connecting the dots, considering how the other lady didn’t know much of the details anyway. Then a confrontation was set forth. So the assistant did know a lot more. Ooooh, so no wonder words got leaked. The cell phone Ren Hu had with him while talking to Long Tai the previous night was the driver’s cell phone, not his. He kept his in his office–as seen from last night.

And my faith in Grandma Zhao somewhat restored. At least after she said Ren Hu shouldn’t hurt his sister–and the fact that if he’d done wrong she (Grandma Zhao) would scold him. The fact that she didn’t want to use underhand tactics to operate her business was admirable enough already. Then Grandma Zhao realized how cold-blooded Ren Hu had turned out. (She was thinking to herself outside in the hallway after warning Ren Hu to never pick on Ren Mei again.)

After having some lead from the head of the town, Long Tai went to the woods in search of Ren Mei. According to the former, Ren Mei might have gone to her parents’ place. So it was really worrisome and NOT at all random that Long Tai spotted the ropes hanging from high above by one of the trees. It made sense she wanted to go there to talk to her parents before ending her life. Though it seemed random, viewers who might not know (or had forgotten some previous details) would treat it as random. Then there was also Ren Mei’s belongings laying nearby as well. Who could blame Long Tai for thinking of the worst?

Having run around and around in circles, Long Tai resorted in yelling out and telling Ren Mei not to do anything stupid to hurt herself or he wouldn’t forgive her for it. Not getting an answer, he opted to bargain with Heaven, asking Heaven to return Ren Mei to him, saying that he couldn’t lose anyone else in his life. Whether that had helped or Ren Mei might have heard him previously already, she soon appeared from behind him and called out his name. (Or at least she had called “Long Tian He”.) He turned around, surprised, not knowing what to say yet just stared at her while she asked him why he was there. She even dared to ask him which important person did he lose? (Well, it was hard to blame her since he kept insisting on hating her or was just caring for her because of some responsibility so how would she know? And he had said he was dating Wen Zi as well.) Soon, she showed him some flowers that she had picked. The flower was called Angel flower, her mother’s favorite. Long Tai still didn’t say anything. Yet he finally pulled her into a kiss–to much of her bewilderment.

Afterward, they were both standing in front of Ren Mei’s parents’ graves. Ren Mei confessed to her parents that it was her first time coming after all these years. She kept making excuses not to come and therefore had created even more tension with others, causing them to think that she was not filial. Yet the real reason why she didn’t want to come was because she wanted to lie to herself that if she didn’t see their graves, she could still believe that they were still alive. The moment was indeed both heartbreaking and touching. (Da Yuan’s acting at this point was really good. It really tugged at the heart. If anyone had gone through this type of loss, they could so sympathize with Ren Mei’s character at the moment and understand why she wanted to deceive herself like that. Da Yuan really brought out that feeling with her acting. NOT at all bland. Her face and eyes were full of the appropriate emotions.) Long Tai soon stepped forward to comfort Ren Mei and reassured her that her parents were always living in her heart.

Back at the Zhao resident, it seemed like Grandma Zhao was going crazy trying to dial and couldn’t get through. She wished she had treated Ren Mei better in the past. Yet she soon said she wasn’t going to give up on the search, even insisting on going out. Her assistant asked if she would want Ren Hu to go with her yet she was more upset upon hearing Ren Hu’s name, claiming that she could go on her own. So it was set.

Meanwhile, Long Tai and Ren Mei were making their way back. Or so it seemed. As they were walking, Ren Mei was happy inside that Long Tai had confessed to her. Yet her smile soon turned upside down. She was thinking of Wen Zi and what would come of it. As she was phasing out, Long Tai turned around to tell her to hurry if they wanted to get back before dark. They ended up lost because Ren Mei was so sure that her direction was right. (Nice?) So they made their way back to the one that Long Tai had pointed out before. Again, like last time when they made their way home–or tried to, rain hit. So they were forced to find shelter before continuing on. Ren Mei tripped over a tree and had to be carried. Lucky for them, they found a cave to hide for the time being. The funniest thing happened when Long Tai was trying set some fire going so they could warm up. He used a traditional method with rubbing two rocks together to get some sparks. However, he didn’t realize there was a lighter inside his pants pocket all along. Well, the reason how he came into contact with that lighter in the first place was because he caught Xiao Xiang smoking inside the hot spring one day so he confiscated it from her and had put it in his pocket. Another brush of luck since his rocks didn’t work.

Anyhow, Grandma Zhao was in a brink of some kind of breakdown when she overheard the head of the town yelling about something. She came to check it out and he said that he was trying to make an announcement over the microphone so the townspeople could come and help in finding Ren Mei. Though Grandma Zhao was desperate, but she also managed to fix the microphone and made her own announcement with making a plea for others to help her find Ren Mei. A touching speech indeed. It proved that she really cared for Ren Mei, even letting go of her own self-pride for the moment and only think of Ren Mei’s well-being.

Back in the cave, it seemed to stop raining–or something. Yet they were all nice and warm again. Long Tai even took the time to check on Ren Mei’s leg. He almost blew his cover yet patched things up in time. They soon moved onto the situation with their misunderstanding. She still thought that he was just pitying her yet he clarified that he liked her. He didn’t mean to blurt it out so fast yet how could he take it back? Besides, why would he take it back at this point? After some awkwardness passed between them, Ren Mei asked what would happen to Wen Zi, considering their current situation. (She had no idea.) He took that time to clarify that there wasn’t anything between him and Wen Zi. She, of course, realized that she had misunderstood. (Major time, lol.) As Long Tai was saying how he treated Wen Zi like both his best friend and younger sister, Ren Mei realized that the way he spoke of Wen Zi was like they grew up together. (YES, she wasn’t so clueless after all. In fact, she wasn’t dumb, just lack confidence on different levels due to her grandma and brother’s behaviors toward her all these years.) But Ren Mei soon abandoned the analysis and focused completely on Long Tai’s words since he said he didn’t know what love was until he met her. However, what Long Tai discovered was Ren Mei’s secret admiration of his brother since young, even donating blood to his brother when his brother was sick that one time in high school. (The recounts of how Long Shou Cheng was willing to kneel in front of Grandma Zhao to beg for the donation also was quite touching.) How could Long Tai be happy when he realized the reason why she was so tolerant of him and even feel happy when she got bullied by him? Since it wasn’t because of his identity but because she thought (like everyone else) that he was Long Tian He. She confessed she was able to see Tian He’s pain hence treating others like that. (Ummmm….) The more Ren Mei talked, the more Long Tai realized how stupid he was, considering how he was currently posing as Long Tian He. So when he confessed his love to Ren Mei, he was Long Tian He AND not Long Tai. Beating himself wasn’t going to help now, right?

The finally made it home at long last–while the townspeople were gathered at the Long hot spring resort to divide up tasks and think of other ways to find Ren Mei. Upon knowing that Ren Mei was all right, the others were more than happy. However, Grandma Zhao was giving her a stare down. While Ren Mei apologized, her expression was also turning worrisome, knowing from her grandma’s look that it wasn’t going to be good. Far from it. Yet Grandma Zhao still stayed silent while the head of the town recounted the events of Grandma Zhao’s search for Ren Mei and her speech. After hearing those words, Ren Mei stepped over and apologized to her grandma. How did Grandma Zhao react? From her expression, it was too obvious yet I still wanted to be hopeful. But it was indeed inevitable. She gave Ren Mei a slap–to much of everyone’s surprise. After a brief lecture, Grandma Zhao departed with her employees following closely. Then Xiao Xiang walked over to comfort Ren Mei. Contrary to her usual negative outlook on matters, Ren Mei was actually happy that Grandma Zhao was worried for her. (Considering how she had always thought her grandma didn’t care for her.)

That night at the Long resident, they celebrated for Ren Mei’s well-being and safe return. Ah Pan Jie was scolding her son (Ah Lun) for eating like a ‘starving ghost’, lol. Yet Ah Lun resorted with saying that they’d been searching all day hence they should be able to restore their health by eating more. The atmosphere indeed was harmonious, even Long Tai and Ren Mei were seen more than happy at the moment. They weren’t at war anymore and even sat next to each other. Ah Pan Jie pointed out that Long Tai/Tian He searched harder than them so he should eat more. Ren Mei quickly apologized again for causing them to worry. Yet Long Shou Cheng said it was all right, but told Ren Mei to talk to them in the future, not go off alone like that. Xiao Xiang then spoke up, stating that she didn’t realize the people in the area were that nice and caring toward one another (hinting at how everyone dropped what they were doing to help search for Ren Mei). Lao Tu soon stepped out to say that of course they were a good bunch of people who had big hearts. The spar between Lao Tu and Xiao Xiang soon subsided, because they were focusing on celebrating that night, not argue. After everyone had settled down already, Long Shou Cheng realized that Wen Zi wasn’t around and asked the others. (Yes, strangely–but not so strangely–Wen Zi wasn’t around for the celebration.) Though Ah Pan Jie was saying that Wen Zi had said she didn’t want to eat, Wen Zi stepped into the room to much of their surprise. Xiao Xiang got up at that time and let Wen Zi have her spot as Ah Pan Jie rushed to get additional utensils and whatnot. Wen Zi, of course, didn’t seem that all happy like she tried to show.

A showdown quickly commenced–with Wen Zi stating that she wanted to celebrate for Ren Mei’s safe return–yet she ended up drinking away. Even if she stated that it was for Ren Mei, the others could see how intense things were. As the others interfered with Wen Zi’s drinking and Wen Zi’s attempt to lure Ren Mei in, Wen Zi stated that she was just celebrating for Ren Mei. Long Tai, knowing what was going on, tried to stop Ren Mei yet Ren Mei decided to stand up for herself and take it. (Though she was wondering if Wen Zi had known of her get together with Long Tian He already.) So the so-called celebration event ended up being a disaster with everyone watching and not being able to stop it. It wasn’t until Ren Mei was finally so drunk that she developed multi-visions that Long Tai interfered, trying to help her stand up straight. Wen Zi, not drunk at all–or maybe not that drunk yet, decided to fake drunk too so Long Tai could catch her. As Long Tai yelled for Ah Pan Jie’s help, Xiao Xiang was smiling, knowing too well what was going on. To much of Wen Zi’s disappointment, Long Tai told Ah Pan Jie to tend to Wen Zi while he took Ren Mei to her room.

After putting Ren Mei to bed (and hearing her declare how much she liked Long Tian He), Long Tai went over to Wen Zi’s room to check on her. Wen Zi jumped up from where she was sitting and hugged Long Tai, begging him not to like Ren Mei, etc. Long Tai assured her that there was nothing going on between him and Ren Mei because Ren Mei had someone that she liked. Wen Zi, more than happy to hear that, wanted Long Tai to be with her, etc. Yet Long Tai turned her down as well, stating that it was impossible between them. She was upset all over again, declaring that she didn’t want to see him anymore, asking him to leave.

That wasn’t the last bit of drama of the night. Because Wen Zi soon went to Ren Mei’s room to confront her. Ren Mei, still very much drunk, told Wen Zi that she didn’t want to drink anymore. Wen Zi asked Ren Mei if she liked Long Tian He. Ren Mei quickly apologized for what she did, stating that she knew Wen Zi also like him. However, Wen Zi clarified that she didn’t like Long Tian He. When Ren Mei asked Wen Zi who she like, Wen Zi said that she didn’t blame Ren Mei for the mistaken identity, but told Ren Mei to stay away from him. Ren Mei, more than confused at this point, asked Wen Zi what she was talking about. Wen Zi disclosed that the person Ren Mei was currently interacting with wasn’t Long Tian He but someone else. That was when Ren Mei sat up and questioned Wen Zi more about the confusing situation. Wen Zi said that when Long Tian He return, Ren Mei would know. She was about to disclose further of the siblings’ identity yet Long Tai stepped in to stop her. Their argument continued in the hallway. He reminded her that she had promised him not to say it out. Yet she told him it was a matter of time that Ren Mei know so she might as well end it now. The fact that Long Shou Cheng overheard their argument made things tenfold more sticky.

But that had allowed him to ease into wanting to restore his own identity. Long Shou Cheng, as it were, still stood firm on his past words, wanting Long Tai to continue on. He stated that Ren Mei was already so drunk and wouldn’t remember what she was told the next day. He even told Long Tai to keep it in and play along for one more month until Tian He return. Long Tai, having had enough, confronted his old man once again. He didn’t want to be Long Tian He’s shadow anymore, and that he was also a human being. This confrontation was as emotional as their first encounter. Yet it seemed like Long Shou Cheng never changed, always wanting to cast Long Tai aside and only cared for Tian He. He said he didn’t mean it in that way, but he had disregarded Long Tai’s feelings all these times. (And one would think that he had changed through all these months staying with Long Tai and perhaps wanting Long Tai to stay with them as well. Even if he was thinking it, but honestly, what was he trying to do by saying that Long Tai wanted to return to Japan anyway. Honestly?) It took awhile for Long Shou Cheng to speak up again. And it had probably also caused Long Tai to make up his mind. When Long Shou Cheng offered to make up for Long Tai with all these years not being able to take care of him, Long Tai said that he was already grown up and that his mother was already gone so it was already too late. (It didn’t matter that the old man looked pitiful. He already made his choice to protect Tian He.) Even if he pleaded to Long Tai to give him a chance to prove it, it was indeed too late. (If only he hadn’t insisted so strongly for Long Tai to stay patient for Tian He’s return. Because honestly, when Long Tai wanted to step out of Tian He’s shadow and declare his existence to everyone, his old man turned him down. So I honestly do not blame Long Tai for not taking that offer.)

Back in his room (or more like Tian He’s room), his anger was far from being extinguished. It had re-ignited upon seeing Tian He’s pictures all over the room. He walked over and grabbed one of the pictures to confront it. It seemed like Long Tai was the same as Tian He, trying to confront his inner demon. The only difference was that Long Tai’s anger would eventually subside, because he had his mother as guidance and would always be the kind Long Tai, unlike Tian He who had always fought his own battle and withdrew from others all these years. (Yet Mike’s acting was honestly so good here. The confrontation with his old man and then with his supposedly twin brother.)

The night was indeed far from over. Aside from Long Shou Cheng’s little walk in the garden and trying to talk to his wife, there was also the confrontation between Xiao Xiang and Wen Zi. Xiao Xiang told Wen Zi not to act in that way and gave Wen Zi some advice. Yet Wen Zi said she didn’t want to talk and slam the door in Xiao Xiang’s face. Nice?

So the next day, Wen Zi was out walking and ranting about how “Long Tai was hers.” (Honestly, now he was an object? I used to like her as well, but now less. NOT because she was being mean to Ren Mei, but because she was objectifying Long Tai like her toy, stating that he was hers, etc. I don’t like it when the guys do it to the girls SO it would be the same with girls doing that to guys as well SO not picking on just her.)  Anyway, Wen Zi also felt like what Xiao Xiang said was true so she wanted to leave so that Long Tai would turn around and acknowledge her, etc. Yet she had no money at this point. What else but to finally call her father up for help? Yet instead of asking for financial assistant or the like, she ended up assuring her father that everything was good before hanging up. (OY, changing her mind or growing a conscience since she realized how much her old man was worrying over her well-being?)

Back at the Long resident, Ren Mei finally woke up. She, of course, was feeling like hell after all of that drinking the previous night. Yet Long Shou Cheng was wrong. Ren Mei remembered about the conversation she had with Wen Zi last night regarding Long Tai/Long Tian He. What now? Dismiss it like another weird dream or investigate further?
