qiao qiao shou shi suo you xi wang
Quietly arranging all wishes
Lẳng lặng thu xếp những hy vọng
wo zai ni xin li zao ji jing shi qu fen liang
In your heart, I have already lost my ground
bu chi bu shui bu gan xiang   wo hai neng zen me yang
Not eating, not sleeping, not daring to think what else I could do
ni de xiao rong bian le yang
Your smile has already changed
Nụ cười của em đã thay đổi rồi
wo de ai rang ni xin huang
My love has frightened you
Tình yêu của anh đã làm em sợ

ting ting peng you men shuo de hua
Listening to friends’ exchanged words
Lắng nghe bạn bè cùng nhau chuyện trò
mei yi ju wo dou jue de wu guan tong yang
Each sentence, I feel that it’s irrelevant
Mỗi câu anh nghĩ rằng đều không quan trọng
kai kai xin xin dui zhe jing zi wo bu ken ding tou xiang
Happily facing the mirror, I’m uncertain of surrendering
Vui vui vẻ vẻ đứng trước tấm kiếng, anh không chắc rằng đã dầu hàng
Even if the smile isn’t forced, I still feel disheartened

woo~ ni xiao wo chi   wo hen ni sha
woo~ You laugh at my idiotic, I hate your foolishness
woo~ Em cười anh ngu, anh ghét em khờ
In the end, it was all due to enduring love’s injury
Nói tóm lại, cũng bởi vì tình yêu làm tổn thương
ni shuo wo dong   wo gei ni de
Understanding your words, I’ll give you all
Những gì em nói anh đều hiểu, anh sẽ cho em hết
guai zhi guai shi shi wu chang
The only thing that could be blamed is the world’s unpredictability
Muốn trách chỉ có thể trách rằng thế sự vô thường

woo~ ni shi wo de   wo shi ni de
woo~ You’re mine and I’m yours
woo~ Em là của anh và anh là của em
dao tou lai hao meng you yi chang
In the end, a good dream is still a dream
ni qing wo yuan you zen me yang
We’re both willing, so what?
Em tình anh nguyện, có sao đâu?
shui bu shi wei ai huang tang
Who hasn’t been absurd because of love?
Có ai mà chưa vì tình yêu mà hoang đường?

huo xu shi shi zhen de duo bian
Perhaps the world is really full of ever-changing events
Có lẽ thế sự thiệt sự là đa biến
wo que jue de shi ni wu chang
Yet I think that it’s you who’s unpredictable

Asian Wave Moments: The Return of Zhu Shi Xiong Di

(Uploaded by: kankanews)

Just the other day, James posted up an old picture of the brothers’ performance on one of the shows. It sent me chasing a possible new performance down. One question later and some unfruitful findings, I finally matched the outfits to a certain tiny clip of them singing something only to find out it was old. So just to direct my attention away from the lost, I hunted down some clips they were performing on Asian Wave last year.

The song in the clip above is actually “Once Again“, one of 183 Club’s songs from their first album. Fans are too familiar with it yet it seemed refreshing to see the brothers sing it together onstage. I really miss those times when Jacky sing the old songs from time to time for different performances with 183 Club. But this time, it was really cute to see how James was chanting along (even when Jacky was singing it).

Because of how James would randomly share moments from past performances when he was in one of his sentimental moods, it was really misleading sometimes if they have a new performance or not. Yet it would make sense that they don’t since Jacky’s mad busy filming for Dong Jiang Heroes right now. It would be too hard to juggle for both, especially how much energy it would take to film for the historical drama.

But while we’re still waiting for a possible future performance, here’s another song for the road:

你喜歡怎麼想
ni xi huan zen me xiang
What do you like to think of?
Em thích nghĩ về những gì?
ni xi huan zen me yang
What do you like?
Em thích những gì?
yi qie dou you ni
Everything is up to you
Tất cả đều do em hết
xin dou tan cheng zhe ban
The heart has become scattered like so
na jie ju ying cai bu nan xiang xiang
That ending shouldn’t be hard to visualize

tai sui xin de ai bu chang
Love that follows the heart too much won’t last
wo hen zao jiu dui ni jiang
That was what I told you previously
Cái đó anh đã sớm nói với em rồi
ni bi shui dou jian qiang
Comparing to others, you’re always stronger
zong yao shang dao zhe ge yang
It takes all the pain building up like that
Nhiều đau thương ấp ủ đến thế
cai ken kao jin wo xiong tang
To be willing to lean on my chest
Mới khiến em tựa vào lòng anh

wo yuan yi   wo hen yuan yi   jie shou ni suo you wei qu
I’m willing, I’m very willing to accept all your writhing
bei pan zi zun   fang xia shen duan
Betraying self-pride, letting go of dignity
Phản bội tự tôn, bỏ đi phẩm cách
lei zai an ye zhong ca qu
Wiping tears in the middle of the dark night
Gạt lệ trong đêm tối

wo zai yi   wo hen zai yi   ni ku ku de fang wei zi ji
I mind, I really mind that you have to strenuously protect yourself
Anh bận tâm, anh rất là bận tâm những lúc em phải khổ sở tự bảo vệ mình
xiang ta de sheng ying   xiang ta de bei ying
Like his voice, like his back view
wo rang yi qie shang bu dao ni whoa oh~
I won’t allow all the pain to reach you whoa oh~

ai ya bu shi yao ni gan ji
Love is not intended for your appreciation
wo de shi jie bu liu yu di
My world doesn’t leave any spare space
zhe fen gan qing kai shi niu qu
This love, since the beginning, has been distorted
que zhi neng dai zai yi pang wu neng wei li
Yet I could only wait at the side helplessly

ai ya bu shi yao ni gan ji
Love is not intended for your appreciation
zhi shi shuo bu chu dao li
It’s merely a justification of the inability to say it out
wo hui pei zhe ni
I could only accompany you
Anh chỉ có thể đi cùng em
wo hui shou zhe ni lao qu
I could only protect you until we grow old
Anh chỉ có thể bảo vệ em cho đến già

Love Is Not Intended For Your Appreciation

As always, my little turtle rate couldn’t beat Vanadia‘s progress by reviewing James’ album. But I guess better late than never. Though I had talked about the first song a bit in my other post, I thought it would be better to do a separate post and include the other songs as well.

1. Love Is Not Intended For Your Appreciation The best track in the whole album. Maybe that was why it was the 1st track? (LOL!) The more I listen to this song, the more I love it. Possibly because of the way James sang it. It seemed to be a normal song, but it used complex phrases or crafty words at times to make its point.

2. Understood (了解). Supposedly a hopeful song yet I wasn’t really into it. It was a good song actually, just me, lol.

3. Just Want Daylight (就要天亮). Surprised that I actually liked this song more than the previous one though it was somewhat along the same line.

4. I’m Always By Your Side Mixed feelings. I liked the last few verses more than the beginning, lol. It might be the music arrangement that caused me to not like this one as much.

5. Unpredictable (無常). This was my second favorite song. The tune was really catchy and how James sang it made it even more energetic. I think among all the upbeat songs in here, he sang this one with much more comfort than the others. Or it appeared so to me. This song he handled it with much more grace and flexibility than the other ones.

6. The Person Love Passed By (愛情的過路人). Third favorite song. If listened to more carefully, it was really well written and the music was soothing. A sad song but not too bitter.

7. New Distance (新的距離). It caught on after several more repeats. But I’m still leaving it in the middle, lol.

8. I Want To Cry (我想哭). A very good song, however, it was way too morbid. YES, coming from me. I liked the lyrics. Again, a beautifully written song.

9. Lost (迷失). I don’t know what to say about this song. Kind of random? It was upbeat and catchy, but still didn’t grab my attention. Will need more listening.

10. Love’s Attraction (愛情的魔力). A hopeful song. Upbeat and catchy as well. It was all right, I guess.

Conclusion? I STILL can’t get over why this wasn’t more popular when it was released. There were enough variety of calm/sad songs versus happy/upbeat songs. Though I have made some comments regarding James’ vocal and how he handled the songs, I felt if this one was his first album, it was already beyond standard than some of the current singers’ supposedly debut album.

*Will update with more details when I could finally get my hands on the actual album. (Slim chance BUT still hopeful.)

The Life Before James Chu

(Credit: fowrmusic)

Blame it on Vanadia for this one. I was searching for James’ album that he released ages ago for her since she mentioned it. And what do you know, found this song. If anyone wants to check out the new live version, go here. Anyway, I totally forgot that he used to go by a different name as a singer. Okay, more like I totally was ignorant of the label on the cover. He was known as Yang Xuan (楊軒) back then when he released the album titled “Love Isn’t Intended For Your Appreciation” (愛不是要你感激) under Forward Music. What I found really, really, really strange was why didn’t James get famous back then? He has a unique voice and had a nice image. Even if he couldn’t go on the ‘idol’ route, but he was quite cute back then too. Boyish in the old days, but quite manly right now. What doesn’t change is his respectable image. Some of the people back then weren’t that good but got quite famous so how come James didn’t make the cut? Then what got me thinking, even more, was why he wasn’t using his real name back then? Was that his move or Forward Music’s move? Because honestly, he has a nice name and quite distinguished from others so he would definitely stand out. (If anyone knows more about the background of it, please clarify it for me since I would love to hear it too.) I’m not saying Yang Xuan’s not a nice name since it is and through his music, he has garnered some fans too, but because of the confusion in the name in the past, some had lost track of him, even if he’d been in the spotlight more and more recently. (I actually saw some comments in some sites I found when someone posted the new version of the song above and also posted a link to the old MV, another person had said that they loved it back then but never realized it was James.)

Even if James had mentioned at one time that this album wasn’t up to his standard (thanks to Vanadia for reminding me of that), I felt it had set apart from others. (If you want to listen to the album and couldn’t get your hands on it, go here.) But I guess we can’t dwell on the past anyway because we can’t change anything regardless. So to make the best of it, I’m so waiting for James’ new album. (If Mr. Perfectionist would just allow it to move forward a tad more, lol. Not that I’m rushing since I know ‘art’ takes a lot more time than what half of the album released now are going through.)

I know I just said not to dwell on the past, but I couldn’t help noticing a certain similarity. One of the songs in James’ album was titled “I Want To Cry” (我想哭) and several years later in Jacky’s debut album, there was a track titled “Won’t Let You Cry” (不讓你哭). A coincident or what?

My next move? Searching to see if there are more MVs from that album to obsess over. YES, look out for further updates regarding it! Hey, I have to occupy my time with what’s around while I wait for the ‘epic’ album, right?
