I meant to blog about this since last year. But I kept pushing it back because of other stuff. Let’s face it, movies/TV series have been doing stories about the Yang family for a long time now. So it’s hard not to get comparison here and there. But what I’m looking forward to this time is to see how they could squeeze everything into one movie. How long will it be? It’s never enough when it’s a movie. Yet there are different ways to focus on certain characters or not.
Adam Cheng is going to be portraying the father of the Yang family. At first, I’m like “Seriously?” Okay, don’t get me wrong, I grew up watching Adam Cheng so it’s not like I’m not familiar with his past ‘hero’ images and the roles he often portrayed. Though after they put him in some armor, I guess not so bad. Just have to see how the story is now.
Ekin’s portraying the oldest brother among the seven sons. (If anyone was following from the start, Louis was supposed to take the role but he was injured while filming something else? OR something like that and had to cancel.) Because they lured us in with the initial cast list, I think I could rant, right? There was a time when I was into Ekin’s series. But now? I don’t know. It’s not to the point that I can’t stand him now, I could still watch him. But I wonder what if Louis could have stayed in. Oh well…
Yu Bo’s the second brother. He sure looked cool in the armor and all.
Vic is the third brother. He looks so cool with the bow and arrow! The first time I see him in ancient setting drama. Talking about Vic, he seems to gain some weight again from looking at recent promotion events. So that’s good.
Li Chen is the fourth brother. He does look fierce all right, lol. (Fierce in a cool way, not bad way.)
Raymond is the fifth brother. I swear he still looks too young. Reminded me of his old days with his baby face and all. NOT that he doesn’t look young in modern settings, but it’s like his looks have matured. Yet for this one, they make him look like a ‘kid brother’ again, lol. But I read some articles saying that he really loves this role so can’t wait to see how his scenes are.
Chun is the sixth brother aka possibly the main focus. OR usually, they do that for series, etc. But there are exceptions. At least he will get more screen time. (Coincidentally, he’s also #6 in my fanfic WXB. Though I didn’t know he was portraying 6th brother before writing my fanfic. Anyone who followed my blog would know that I had been working on WXB for a while now, though it’s no longer available for viewing at the moment.) Anyway, he’s supposed to pair up with Ady. OMG, that’s like forbidden in my book. BUT not because I support her other pairings. It’s more like how I associated them in my story, lol. Back to this movie, lol, definitely looking forward to Chun scenes.
Fu Xin Bo is the seventh brother. SAD. NOT because of him since I liked him when watching this one other drama. But because he’s going to die a very horrible death. (We all know what happened, right?) But FXB does look tough for his role here.
So that’s all from the Yang family. But only 4,5, and 6th brothers are the lucky survivors. The rest, better luck next time! (LOL!)
The worldwide release is supposed to be April 4.
