Soon after the phone call with Miao Miao, Zi Hong went to tell Jia Yuan about the meeting that night. She made a fuss about it, mostly due to the fact that she wasn’t confident with getting the job. Yet he said it was a done deal already about the meeting so she couldn’t really do anything about it. Even if she tried, or how she had pointed out it was supposed to be up to her (aka why was he going out and about, deciding stuff for her).

An interesting development came forth when Ah Jie and his buddy clarified with Zi Hong about what was really going on. They said that they really liked Jia Yuan and was really upset after finding out about the situation. They wanted to apologize for their previous actions. Zi Hong asked them if they’d spread the rumors out yet. They said they didn’t. Zi Hong said they didn’t need to apologize, and what was more important was treating Jia Yuan better from now on. Zi Hong went on to ask the two for a favor, wanting them to look after Jia Yuan if he were to leave one day. They were curious about his departure but he shrugged them off and said he only wanted them to promise him to protect Jia Yuan, not meddling into his business. So they promised.

That night, Zi Hong and Jia Yuan had dinner together before going to meet up with Miao Miao at the newspaper place. Zi Hong and Jia Yuan had a heartfelt talk. Although Zi Hong was still sticking to his realistic nature, he tried to comfort Jia Yuan as much as he could. After dinner, they indeed went to meet up with Miao Miao and Miao Miao greeted Jia Yuan with much enthusiasm. She gave Jia Yuan a task to do as part of the interview process. Zi Hong and Miao Miao had a talk while Jia Yuan did the task. Miao Miao was still extracting from Zi Hong the information regarding her childhood friend. Yet Zi Hong wouldn’t let on any further, stating that Qing Ting had left already so there was no point in contacting him. What Zi Hong did disclose was Qing Ting’s cousins, which were Jia Yuan and Xuan Xuan, which made sense with how Xuan Xuan looked like Zi Hong when he was little. Yet Jia Yuan and Xuan Xuan did not know of his existence because of how their families had already lost contact. Any further information retrieving was unfruitful yet Miao Miao finally gained a creative assistant. It was a sealed deal that Jia Yuan would be working at the newspaper place. So after some brief chat, Miao Miao bid them goodbye before going back to brainstorming the case she’d been working on.

Meanwhile at the special headquarter, the team was discussing the latest. Xiao He was briefing them with what he’d found out. After Xiao He was done, Chen Jie asked for Zi Yan’s inputs. Zi Yan didn’t have any problem with Xiao He’s plan, even complimenting Xiao He on his progress. Xiao He actually looked a bit shy yet seemed to feel proud of himself again. He was no longer feeling threatened, lol. What was funny though was how Chen Jie was asking about Miao Miao after Chief Zheng told Zi Yan and Dong Han to be careful with protecting Yong Mei. Chief Zheng said he’d known Miao Miao since she was little and seen her grew up so if they found out she was connected to those things, he would chop his head off and give it to Chen Jie. Seriously? Back to the main problem though, Xiao He showed them the clip during the shooting. They discovered that it wasn’t targeting Jiang Jian Ming, but it was more like a warning. Chief Zheng wondered what Zhang Guo Tang’s main purpose was in this whole matter, considering how it wasn’t just some assassination. Dong Han said that there were just too many suspicions in this case. What message was Zhang Guo Tang sending? Chief Zheng said he’d asked Jiang Jian Ming before yet the man was seriously too busy. Ah Gang was asking if the chief asked him face-to-face. Chief Zheng vouched to get to the bottom of it by setting up another meeting. However, it was unfruitful, Jiang Jian Ming said he had to fly to Japan the next day, and tonight was out because he wanted to spend that time with his granddaughter. He even reminded Chief Zheng to go investigate Zhang Guo Tang’s motives. (Um, that was what they were trying to do here–if only someone would just cooperate. Yet that would probably go against his cause, right?)

Still later that night, Zi Hong was eating a late dinner with his father. They were discussing the events regarding Zhang Guo Tang once again. Mr. Shen once again confronted Zi Hong regarding what he wanted to do. Zi Hong reminded his old man again that he only wanted to investigate what really happened with the whole incident. Soon, Zi Hong was seen showing his father some weapons and other ways that his father could do to protect himself in the future. It seemed like Zi Hong was really wrapping things up before he was going to go against Zhang Guo Tang in the upcoming days. And indeed he was mapping out his route and furthering his investigation the next day.

Like promised, Dong Han and Zi Yan went to the Luo resident to protect Yong Mei. However, their first task was actually passing Mrs. Luo’s test. She was still fierce like always, exuding her power over the two, and wanting to give them a piece of her mind. (Or maybe A LOT.) Yong Mei actually spoke up to try and disarm her mother’s wrath on the two yet she shrugged it off. She was sure having her sweet time torturing the other two to give her the right answer. Dong Han’s impatience was obvious with his straightforward answer, not wanting to just answer for the sake of protocol. He didn’t want to slam down his fellow hardworking officers nor would he want to give her an answer that would please her. That got her even more upset because of his attitude. Zi Yan finally interfered and said that they would use themselves as human shields for her precious daughter and would use their lives to protect her precious daughter.

Outside, Yong Mei apologized to Zi Yan and Dong Han regarding her mother’s hostility. Yet Dong Han interrupted her, saying that she didn’t need to apologize because he understood her mother was just worried for her. So they left the resident. Actually, it was Dong Han who ended up going with Yong Mei this time. Yong Mei was heading toward the newspaper place to meet up with Miao Miao and Jia Yuan. On the way, Zi Yan called Dong Han to chide him for being so hostile with Mrs. Luo. It wasn’t because she didn’t agree with him, but she was just worried for him with his attitude like that, considering how Mrs. Luo was Mrs. Head Commissioner after all. Yet she told Dong Han that she was really touched by his words previously, even wanting to cry but she couldn’t. She also wanted to say those words to Mrs. Luo too but once again, because of her duties, she couldn’t. Yet what she didn’t want to do the most was to be Ah Gang’s partner so she begged him to never repeat that mistake again. She continued by saying how she knew he couldn’t respond at that point so she was really taking advantage of the opportunity to bully him a bit. After Zi Yan said goodbye, it was Yong Mei’s turn. She thanked him for saving her the last time. He seemed to have forgotten but responded with the typical answer that it was his job. She then said she didn’t know whether to thank him or scold him, considering how no one had ever spoken to her mother in such tones he’d used.

They soon arrived at the newspaper place and Dong Han did quick surveillance before leaving the girls to their work. Yet what Miao Miao ended up doing was teasing Yong Mei about the whole matter with Dong Han saving her as being “the hero saving the beauty”, causing Yong Mei to cover her mouth to shut her up so Dong Han and the others couldn’t overhear them. So Yong Mei and Jia Yuan finally met and it seemed like they got along quite well. And while that was going on, Xiao He was showing Chen Jie and Ah Gang in the secret headquarter with how he had tracked down Mr. Shen and his contacting one of Zhang Guo Tang’s henchmen. So coincidence or what?

After Miao Miao and Jia Yuan left the newspaper place, Yong Mei attempted to earn some points with her bodyguards by offering them juices. Dong Han turned her down initially but she went to prepare some anyway. Out of courtesy, Dong Han accepted one and thanked her. It wasn’t before long that he placed the glass back down at the table without taking even a sip. She soon returned after distributing the rest of the drinks to the other bodyguards–and talked some more with him. Her attempts to joke didn’t disarm the icicle on his face at all. (Seriously? Give up already, chick!) It wasn’t before long that he clarified that he wasn’t going against her mother on purpose. She said she understood yet he said no, she didn’t understand. He soon explained it to her and wanted her mother to understand what they were going through as officers. She said she knew her mother would understand, stating that her mother was the one who told her to prepare the juices for them. (Nice?)

Later, Miao Miao and Jia Yuan finally arrived at Xuan Xuan’s classroom in time to witness the kids singing. At first, Miao Miao was really just there to greet the cute kids and wanted to set a trap for Zi Hong. However, she soon realized that the kids were singing a song called “Remembering Homeland” (念故鄉), which was adapted from a famous song called “The New World” (新世界). (Sounds familiar? YUP, it’s the title of the drama.) After the song, Miao Miao accompanied Jia Yuan and Xuan Xuan. She even inquired more about the song. Xuan Xuan disclosed that it was Zi Hong who taught them of the song and told them about the background. Through Jia Yuan’s subtle threats, Xuan Xuan remembered some more of what Zi Hong had told them. Miao Miao remembered back to the time when Qing Ting’s mother told them about the song and the exact words. She finally put two and two together, vouching to go after Zi Hong to confront him.

While Miao Miao was still deciphering the puzzled, Zi Hong was seen visiting his mother, telling her that “that person” had returned already, meaning Zhang Guo Tang. He continued by saying that he’d been waiting for that day for a long time already. It seemed like a last visit. Because he had told her that he might not be able to see her anymore. However, he had left a letter for Jia Yuan. Jia Yuan would know who he was and would know who she was, and would bring Xuan Xuan there to visit her. He said that his mother wouldn’t recognize him, but might be able to recognize Xuan Xuan, because that was the Qing Ting that she knew.

The discovery with Mr. Shen meeting up with one of Zhang Guo Tang’s henchmen had resulted in this scene. The inevitable arrest. Or was it more like trying to get them to cooperate with providing information? Zi Hong couldn’t hide anymore. He had to protect his father and fend the officers off. Ah Gang received the first hit from Zi Hong, and then the other officers followed. Even when Mr. Shen interfered, it was no use. The damage was already done with Zi Hong fighting against the officers. The chaos was finally controlled after Zi Yan fired a shot to warn Zi Hong. It was then that they arrested both father and son. It was also then that Miao Miao jumped out and told them that they couldn’t do that and shouldn’t misunderstand the pair of father and son. She even used her connections to threaten Chen Jie. Yet that was what set Chen Jie off, stating that she shouldn’t put them into a difficult situation, considering how they were just doing their jobs.

So the interrogation began. Mr. Shen honestly provided the information with how he knew that one guy. They actually knew one another since little. When they grew up, Mr. Shen moved away. Yet he still kept in touch with the other party. Chen Jie and Zi Yan were the ones asking the questions. Yet Chen Jie was really aggressive, trying to pin the whole crime on Mr. Shen. Or more like he was using his fierce technique to make Mr. Shen sweat. It wasn’t working. Mr. Shen focused on Zi Hong, wanting the others to let Zi Hong go, considering how Zi Hong was just protecting him. Yet Chen Jie said that Zi Hong had assaulted some police officers so it was hard. Mr. Shen was willing to cooperate the best he could, but he wanted them to talk to Zi Hong first.

And indeed Miao Miao had used her connections to the max. She contacted her grandfather, who used to be a cop, and wanted him to get through Chief Zheng. Her reasoning made him tongue-tied hence he had to carry through with her request. So that led to this meeting with Chief Zheng. Miao Miao wasn’t so into threatening people anymore, considering how her grandpa was already setting up the meeting and Chief Zheng was right there. She didn’t want to waste any more time. She quickly showed him some proofs regarding Zi Hong’s real background and stated how both father and son were innocent. Miao Miao further said that the car accident of years ago might have been planned by Zhang Guo Tang so if Mr. Shen was part of the schemes, why would he adopt Zi Hong and raised him since then? She encouraged Chief Zheng to check Zi Hong’s background and would eventually understand why Zi Hong had assaulted the officers to protect Mr. Shen. So what would their next move be after they cleared up all the confusion?
